Mario Chat / Re: Mario Kart: Super Circuit - Most underated Mario game?
« on: January 25, 2008, 05:10:58 PM »
When I first played it when I was younger, I loved it.

Playing it recently and having the opportuinity to play other Mario Kart games, my main beef with the game is that your kart can't drift, which, to me, made the cars feel more slippery. To my recollection, the cars bounced off everything they crashed into, which got annoying at times (I could be wrong, though). I liked the idea of having to collect the coins, however.

Gee, it'd be pretty cool to see Lucas and Ness face off in SSBB.

On a different note, I finally finished my big geography project today! Yipee! Now all there is to worry about is exams :(.

Touching and interesting choice of subject matter, even though laced with occasional incestuous gayness (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Maybe Luigi is actually Mama Luigi?

Anyway, it's a pretty interesting choice of subject matter. Not many recommendations I could make. Is the fourth chapter going to be the final chapter, or do you plan to continue afterwards?

General Chat / Re: The ANGST thread: Complain here!
« on: January 12, 2008, 09:15:11 PM »
I have ANGST because the constant hype of this stupid monster movie just won't stop.

I'd be quite amused to see that movie bomb at the box office, just like Snakes on a Plane and other action/thriller/monster films with stupid plotlines.

What, Cloverfield? From what I'm seen, that movie's going to be greater that the invention of the wheel (although without the wheel, we wouldn't have film strips that launched the movie industry in the 1930's, and thus, we would have this movie, so I guess not). Plus, I haven't seen any massive promotion for it (like on the scale of Halo 3) since the teaser was released in July and ignited all that controversy. Most of it's hype has been from the fans who constantly follow the movie, not from the studio itself (or at least in my opinion)

Currently, I have ANGST over the massive science review I have for the exams (about 111 questions). Not only that, but I have also got a Geography cumulative activity, as well. Dis blows :(

Video Game Chat / Re: Do You Use The Wiimote Wrist Strap?
« on: January 11, 2008, 10:52:27 PM »
I actually feel a lot more comfortable with the wrist strap on, regardless of whether or not the game I'm playing requires heavy or light use of the Wiim- er, Wii Remote. Seriously, if that wrist strap isn't snuggly around my wrist, I'm not playing.

Do you have a sweet 'stache like Mario's?

Nope. Right now, it's just vaugely visable. No one could have a 'stache comparable to Mario.

Well, I got my first shave today!  Got my hair cut & my sideburns shaved off at the barber's. It feels pretty smooth. I guess I have to add shaving to my daily routine now, huh? Finally, a step into manhood...

Though, I've chosen to shave my 'stache for another day.

Mine was space invaders for the GBC. Prior to that, I watched my cousin play Crash Banidcoot for the PlayStation.

Video Game Chat / Re: Favorite Zelda Dungeon
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:30:06 PM »
When I get stuck at a certain point in a game, I do everything in my power to get past it without assistance. I only use a walkthrough as a last resort. I don't really look at it as cheating, but I feel it's less fun to use a walkthrough rather then try to solve the problem yourself, especially in games like Zelda, where you use your items to solve puzzles.

My favorite dungeon would have to be the Forest Temple from Ocarina of Time. It had some creepy music (a good kind of creepy), a nice atmosphere and great puzzles. Either that, or Arbiters Grounds. It had a feeling or abandonment, seclusion and suspense around every corner, and some interesting puzzles, especially the ones requiring the spinner.

General Chat / Happy New Year!
« on: December 31, 2007, 11:17:00 PM »
So, right now, in my timezone, it's 2008. So, how's 2008 so far? Got any New years resolutions?

I wish they would set the clock back a couple of minutes. I missed the countdown >:(. Otherwise, the year has been pretty good to me.

As for resolutions, if we can try to refund our broken exercise equipment, I would like to start a new exercise routine. So, how about the rest of you?

You know when you've played too much Super Smash Bros. when...

- you know which pokemon is going to appear out of a pokeball
- the computer A.I. is too afraid to fight you
- you get so good at the game, you unlock the trillion man melee and win
- you unlock Giga Bowser without an Action Replay

Mario Chat / Re: Super Mario 64 DS...

Starting Character: Mario

That's not a bad idea, but Yoshi is pretty much useless after you unlock Mario, so he'd get pretty cramped laying in his room all day. Got give the dino a little time air time, right?

Different Courses/Level Changes

That sounds like a good idea. However there were some minor changes to the levels. For example, I'm pretty sure they added some stone platforms behind Whomp's fortress, where you collected the silver stars (I think, it's a long time since I last play that game)

Characters have same moveset

But then what's the reason for having different characters if they all play the exact same? I think the characters should have had more balanced movesets. For example, Luigi can jump really high, but he's slower then Mario. Wario was proably the worst character. There were some areas he couldn't access, but he sure was a powerhouse. However, what's the point of this when all the enemies die in one hit with either character? They should have given the enemies more health so they could not be killed in one hit with any character except Wario. That would have given players a reason to use Wario.

Caps available to all characters

That would have been nice. I think what they should have done, however, is that each character can use the regular three caps from Mario 64 (Wing, metal and invisible) but also have a cap of their own (Balloon for Mario, fire for Yoshi, and something else for Luigi and Wario)

Can choose to do whatever star with whatever character

Again, what's the point of having different characters if they all do the same thing and have the same objectives?

Also, a 4 player co-op mode with all four characters running around the castle would be pretty spiffy, rather then that stupid battle mode we got in the final version.
