I hate it when people call something "subversive" or "clever" or "satire" to deflect criticism. For example:

Person #1: I really disliked the racist message of that movie.
Person #2: It's not racist, it's a cleverly subversive satire of the underlying opinions and views of modern American culture.
Person #1: ...Wha?

Big words confuse me.

So are you saying you hate big words or satire?

I guess that explains why he doesn't think too much of things like CBFD. He'd probably think Animal Farm was boring.

Does that mean you hate Borat?

Because Borat is like, the greatest satire of the last century and stuff.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

I like satire, particularly dark satire, but Borat was way too over the top and stupid for me.

I don't think I'd enjoy Borat. The commercials for it when it was in theaters didn't interest me, and neither do the commercials for the DVD.

I've never seen Borat, but my dad told me it was disgusting.

I don't know, it just looks like a really stupid movie.  I've heard people say it was funny, but really offensive.

Meh, Borat was okay-ish. I giggled every now and then, but if a movie makes me giggle, then it's probably immature.

And I actually enjoy "sophisticated" things like satire and dark humor, but I hate it when people call something satire to make it sound smarter.

I don't think there's anything wrong with calling something "satire." It's fitting.

So, it'd be fitting to call me satire?

I actually know what you mean, but I love making fun of people when they misspeak.

Heh, no, it'd be fitting to call you satirical. And don't we all love making fun of speech error?

I always try to make a joke about my friends speech errors. ;D

Calling something that is racist "subversive" and "satire" would not be accurate, though.

Edit: Unless it was satirizing racism. I'm pretty sure subversive would still be inaccurate.
That was a joke.
