I just went to a Nintendo fan site (n-philes.com) and found some screenshots on the new Mario RPG for GameCube: Paper Mario 2!

Here's a link to see the screenshots for yourself: Paper Mario 2!

Nintendo

The graphics are MUCH better than the N64 version (obviously), and they look more like the box art of the original game--very smooth cel-shaded graphics, with some sweet-looking visual effects!

Old news...

I already saw the confirmation at IGN, right over here...

Man! Look at the screenshots!!

Hmm... Well, that's an awful lot of detail for it to be just an April Fool's joke....

But I shall still remain wary of that date.  *glares at the date*

~EDIT:  Whoops!  Watoad already mentioned it.  Well, it doesn't change the point of my own post, I guess.

WOW! I can't believe Nintendo is FINALLY making a new Paper Mario game for GameCube! Actually, I've always expected Paper Mario to be made for the 'Cube, but I didn't think it would be done so quickly!

I said this earlier, but I'll say it again: "Great graphics! Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have really enhanced the artwork that was made for the N64 version."

That koopa in the turtle neck, with the bandage on his nose who looks sad, you know the one, I feel bad for him, so sad looking... so sad... so sad...

This is a little dissapointing, I just got a new GBA game and will be getting Pikmom 2 if the demo at Wal-Mart is promising, but if it's good, I'll not be able to afford this, but I'd rather not hope for a sucky second Pikmin, although that seems suddenly wanted after seeing these screen type shots. There should be some kind of government funding for the children without enough gaming money. I'll probably use the excuse: "Bush owes it to young Americans for traumatizing them with an unneeded war over oil." or possibly a threat, like: "I'll steal your Tuna Helper if you don't do something or other."

Blast, a lot of the screenshots have about a zillion enemies Mario's killing... AWESOME!

The pic with Peach... the area she is in is a lot like the beginning building of Mario's Time Machine, no?

Good thing Luigi is with Mario or I would go mad...

WHAT is with the Gadd-esque Goomba at that supposed "library?" Must be Gadd's old friend...

WHEN IS IT COMING OUT?!?!?!??!?!?

Do you ever get so mad that you hit something, then when you hit whatever you were gonna hit, it hurts making you even MORE mad?

Hmm... that Koopa Troopa looks like a sad version of Kooper. Kooper had a band-aid on although you never saw it in the game.

What on Earth is that ally that looks like a ghost?

The screenshot of Mario VS all those Ninjis reminds me of the Shy Guy Riot...

Q4, impressive.

No Ninji in the first game was a bad guy...

So why should they be bad guys in the second game?

I mean, even no Boo was a bad guy in the first game!!

Hey!! Look at IGN's screenshots!!

They're clean and clear, because they are the game's actual screens rather than scans off a Japanese magazine, and they even provided some official artwork!!

I love the graphic style of Paper Mario: flat 2D characters moving within cartoony 3D backgrounds!

Hopefully, other companies will incorporate this style in their games...

I hope it has an enemy who you have to fight multiple times throughout the game, Like Jr. Troopa or Popple was in the last 2 RPG's, was there one in SMRPG? And is ther a technical term for an enemy like that?

Popple: It depends on which way Luigi is facing. If he's facing one way, it's an L. If he's facing the other way, it's backwards. They simply reverse the sprite. It was that way in Paper Mario too.
That was a joke.

« Reply #52 on: May 02, 2004, 11:13:17 PM »
They should put more work into the character's facing different ways. Instead of reversing the sprite, it should be made anew in the form of a new sprite. L always looks like an L nomatter where a person is facing, the lack of effort angers myself.

« Reply #55 on: May 05, 2004, 01:48:32 AM »
Nobody's actually sure yet that Luigi would be one of Mario's party...
Although, chances are high...

Another thing, since we don't know what is the storyline for this sequel, therefore we don't know what's with Bowser and Peach...
In fact, Bowser's probably not the main enemy again since we already had him as a 'good' guy twice!

(It's rather bizzare though, he was with Mario twice and he still wants to kidnap the princess...)
