Site Discussion / Re: Look and Layout Preferences

Let's just admit it: the change layout page is never going to be fixed. Unless someone gets MacGyver, MacGruber, McGarnicle, and The Guyver on the case.

Not at the Dinner Table / Re: Time doesn't exist

Hey, any time's good for Dorf time.

Time seems like a convenient way for us to get an idea of how long something will take, even if it's all relative. You'd think basing the time of day on where the sun is would be a good idea, but no (worked well enough back in the day though). When the seasons occur and when sunrise and sunset occur are always a bit different, and change depending on where you are. Timezones are on unusual borders, probably to force the world to have timezones that shift in half-hours roughly, but even then there's exceptions. Universal Coordinated Time or whatever you call the universal time these days wouldn't make any sense out in space. We've got leap years and leap seconds and daylight savings time to further muck things up. Think of the computer programmers, man. Think of the computer programmers!

Seems like time's a human concept to show the length between a cause and effect. But when nature's behind the cause and effect, as it often is, then there's no guarantee we know how it works because nature's still something we're trying to understand.

I think she would win the Turing test assuming all of her responses were at least vaguely related to whichever posts came before. The true test, then, would be to dare her to say something completely comprehensible and normal. Like, erm, um... Douglas.

It's not my fault it's easy to think of Homestar Runner references for her.

I knew about canyon.mid and passport.mid back in the day, but was unaware there were three new ones. Man, let no one say Microsoft didn't have at least a little taste in music. And that MIDI's still alive and well.

But I used to have some kind of Casio huge musical keyboard with two jazzy demo songs that YouTube doesn't have. They've got demo songs for other Casios, just not the one I had. What's up with that? Demo and comes-with-it music should be freely available to all!

True, but not all of us thought to actually walk on top of water. I thought just staying afloat was enough. Though I really should have known better.

Someone pointed out the music's appropriate too, it's from this.

I guess he just couldn't wait for a legitimate reason to use that picture...?
You said in before, Pikachu said inb4, so I thought... picture needs to be posted. But I was thinking of "lock" instead.

That's pretty fun, but I can't get the 12th apostle. But I think the final apostle was Judas, so screw him. Also love the cheerful music and the water-walking bit.
Edit: Found a speedrun of it. Also, looks like no matter what you do, Jesus will be cross'd. But it's still an enjoyable funny game.

People joke too much about Canada. But then, I've only been up in Victoria B.C. which is like the USA but with the metric system and different money. I heard you don't really get the Canadian experience until you move even further north. Why have I heard relatively few jokes about New Jersey?

Fry: "Well, I give up. What's the catch?"
Man: "Oh, no catch. Although we are technically in New Jersey."
Fry: "Not one place even remotely liveable."

By the way, technically it's "Canada goose", not "Canadian goose".

No no no, there's been far greater threads in other boards that we have to live up to. Like the one thread on NeoGAF where people got caught up on a lousy Raving Rabbids commercial and started photoshopping the goth and goof kids in various ways. Or doing the Spongebob Squarepants song with the theme of Richard Nixon.

Or this where someone decided to recite the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody.

But for this forum, I tend to think TOTY candidates include the Pointless Thread, Ouch!, You Laugh You Lose (for creating a bunch of imitators), Why don't any of you people have A Boy and His Blob, that one thread where two new Pokemon were going to be revealed and it was leaked a few days before it was meant to, and... uh, that's all I can think of.

So we're all acting like wessels... I mean, bots now? We really shouldn't succumb to the Combine, you know. It's like the photoshop of numbats: her name is Inigo Montoya, you killed her flamingo, prepare to Stella.

...can you even SEE the screen? You do know the tadpoles represent the note placement, right? I agree that you can't see much of the notes you've already hit, but it's probably assumed all you care about is hitting the next note right and that you know your current place in the song. What I always mess up on is knowing where to hit the tadpole to correspond with the note I want. I know all about Do Re Mi corresponding to C D E etc., but as for getting the tadpole to line up on the right note... come on, everything's in 3/4 view, I'm not used to reading music at a slant.

But for that, you can get a piece of paper, use an electric piano or online piano, sound out the notes, then draw out where they are so you know where to jump on the tadpoles. If you can't read music though, then... well, learn. Weegee posted all you need to know.

So, par for the course then?

...Kirby had his own golf game, Kirby's Dream Course or something. We need a Pokemon golf game, one where we smack Pikachu around.
Yes, that was a lame segue.
