Video Game Chat / Sega Gamers Days (Psuedo-Live)
« on: May 10, 2007, 11:29:12 AM »
SEGA is hosting a little Gamers Day today at their headquarters. No one is sure what they will be showing, but regardless, I wanted to add this little thread in case some gems are announced. I'll keep it updated with any info I come across. If there's Mario related stuff (read: Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics) I'll make sure to news/blog it. The unveiling should be happening around 10 a.m. Pacific, followed by a half day of game demos for titles on the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, DS and PC.

-First up is Happy Tree Friends, a download only game for PC and XBLA. It's sorta like Lemmings, with blood. Crazy, huh? [PC/XBLA]

- Ghost Squad, a new Wii title, will be a FPS with a LIGHT GUN! Looks like Time Crisis. Sweeeet. [Wii]

- Universal War is coming to the Xbox 360. [x360]

-Talking Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Just says how excited they are to have that game. No new info (maybe some play time?)

- Marvel takes the stage, says they are thrilled to work with Sega on Iron Man and Hulk games. Both games will be coming out next Spring.

- Condemned 2: Bloodshot is going to be on Xbox 360 AND PlayStation 3. [X360,PS3]

No other announcements made, but if I find some impressions, I'll link'em.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Galaxy In October according to... famitsu?
« on: May 10, 2007, 10:39:34 AM »
Ya know, Europe has been getting certain Mario games earlier than us USA'ers, so don't count that idea out yet. I wouldn't expect NoA to release it here until November or so. As for Smash, I'd think Nintendo would want to save that for next year, but never know...

Game Blog / Super Promio Bros?
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:13:25 AM »
As nerds, most of us have a tradition of not going to prom night, unless the hottest cheerleader in school asks us (or any girl for some). We'd rather stay home, enjoy some Wi-Fi action, and be content in the fact that we just saved ourselves cash to pick up some sweet import Mario stuff. However, what if your prom theme was Super Mario Bros.? What if the nerds took over the prom? That's exactly what happened at Chelsea High School, where students remade their ballroom to reflect everything Mario Bros. The large NES controller I pictofied (after the jump) was wired to work acurrately with the original Super Mario Bros. game, which was being projected onto a nearby wall. How cool is that?

I just have one gripe: The kids that grew up with Super Mario Bros, like me, graduated a few years before our dreams could come true, oh well.

Two cool screenshots from Taiko Drum Master DS showing off some 8-bit Mario love. I wasn't sure if this was something worth importing, but it seems that Mario may have just sweetened the deal for me...

Latest News / Re: Mario Party 8 dated for Australia
« on: May 09, 2007, 01:16:20 PM »
Just a note, I've been hearing rumblings that the European release date is June 22nd, but that may be more of a placeholder date since the official site lists no solid date. As soon as I find something, I'll let you guys know.

Game Blog / ESRB rates Mario Strikers Charged
« on: May 09, 2007, 10:56:05 AM »
Going through the ESRB site, I noticed that they posted recently a rating for Mario Strikers Charged. The game will be rated E10+ for crude humor and mild cartoon violence. I think it's safe to assume the crude humor is going to be provided mainly by Wario. Currently, Nintendo has the game scheduled to release "Summer 2007" on their press site.

Game Blog / Dropped In The (Paper) Pit
« on: May 08, 2007, 07:14:21 PM »
Unless you didn't get a Wii, anyone reading this board has probably already beaten, or at least played, the main story of Super Paper Mario. However, how many can say they went to the Pit of 100 Trials and lived to tell about it? I am proud to say I only know of two people: Me, and Stephen Totilo from mtv.com. Unlike me, who simply yelled at the TV as I progressed, Stephen contemplated how "the Pit" takes gamers back to the "good old days" of Pac-Man, where the thrill came from just trying to hang on as long as possible. Overall, it's a great article that'll carry you through his experience, and maybe even give you an itch to enter the Pit, or try it once more.
