Apparently, if I sold all of my Mario stuff, I'd be able to pay for both my college debt and my son's future debt.

But anyone can have debt, how many people can have a Super Mario Warp Phone?!

So, post songs/artists/albums you've discovered recently (" I like(d) ___________ back when they were________ but totally not as cool as  ____).

Personally? Fall Out Boy, Aquabats, and thanks to this website? Mr. Bungle :D

TEM...that sounds familiar...

Oh thank goodness. I only questioned it because I recently saw an episode of game trumps that was talking about how crazy the Mario sports rosters were getting. One of those coincidental timing things. I googled it and saw some fan art. Um, hm, interesting.

I want that picture as my new avatar.

And

I actually meant trying to link Deezer's name as if it were a Reddit comment.

I was hoping he's taken my suggestion to turn the forums into a subreddit-like adventure.

Nintendo released a new video for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team that proves the series' sense of odd humor is still intact. What will be your new catchphrase after watching it? Personally, I'm going with CANNONBEEF!

Besides that, the video also shows off some more of the game's mechanics, such as Luigi reacting to his "jokes" in the bottom screen, the game's unique take on the Action-RPG concept, and turning the 3DS vertically to defeat certain enemies.

The game was released a few days ago in Europe/Australia and just came out today in Japan. North America can expect to see the game in a few weeks, on August 11th.

Anyone get their hands on it yet?

Thanks Glowsquid, added that translation to the original post!

unlockable characters (Dry Baby Metal Wawaluigi's a shoo-in, regardless).

Wait, is there really a baby version of Dry Bones and a Metal/baby version of Waluigi?

Also, I loved the two-person kart feature from DD and think the Control Pad would be a great way to further the concept (as well as bringing back items that are character specific, another way to differentiate things between the racers). However, I think it should be something that's an option and perhaps not an exact required feature, perhaps a racing mode all on its own even.

Uh...wha?

Back before Trolling was a thing, I got super bored for a few nights as I was sprucing things up around here (aka catalogging my merch) and in the IRC I signed under "Starfy" or something like that, based on the character. I don't remember what I was saying but it was funny to younger me. And by younger I mean 19/20 year old me :P

I liked Mario Power Tennis. I wasn't huge into golf (if anyone watching Game Grumps, you have to check out their Mario Gold Toadstool Tour video).

I don't know what I would like to see, but I definitely think at this point, we might have enough "NEW Super Mario Bros." content and sequels and should get back to the main series. Please Mr. Miyamoto?

Splash pages are archaic and limit traffic, but TMK's was cool.  I think it'd be better to make it a hidden feature like the secret...

Oh you mean like some sort of secret page that may or may not exist on here?

That I may or not know about? That I may or not remember being told about? That I may or not recall exactly what the page had or where it is?

;-)

He is risen! Thanks for keeping the TMK spirit alive with your learned presence, SJ.

No problem, though I think at this point you guys are the ones that will be teaching me a few things; took me a good 15 minutes just to remember how to properly post a "blog" type thing in the Mario Chat forum!

I can't tell if you did that as a joke or not.

Oh no, my friend, it was very ridiculously real. I actually had done it for a History project. We had to give the history of "something", but based on a few points they gave us. It was originally just a powerpoint presentation, but I went super overboard and did that little video. In case anyone hasn't seen it, it's on my facebook video page (and the quality isn't the best because I had to compress it a lot, and it's like 20 minutes long: Here is the link.

By accident? I don't believe that's possible at this point. The Mario games have corrupted him, however subtlely, and have done it WELL. They now own him just as they own you...and if you think I'm joking, I've been stuck here for 12 years...off and on, but never cut off for certain. This place has some sort of Siren's Song...and you KNOW IT.

I guess the giant Mario Sunshine poster in my room didn't help, as well as the fact that I still have my Mario outfit in the closet. Waiting for the day I'm called back to The Mushroom Kingdom. ;-P

Game Blog / Mario Kart 8 Producer: 'Double-Dash' mode was considered
« on: July 17, 2013, 03:51:41 PM »
During the shuffle of E3, a lot of little tidbits can get lost, and it seems this interview might have been one of them (at least on here).

Hideki Konno (head of Nintendo EAD Software Development Group No. 1 and Mario Kart 8 Producer) and Kosuke Yabuki (Director of Mario Kart 8) were interviewed by French website Gamekult and shared some details on what players can expect from the game when it releases early next year. NeoGaf member DrWong was kind enough to break down the highlights from the interview:

* MK8 development began just more than a year ago.
* No other studio involved, 100% EAD Kyoto.
* About the GamePad use: "Our priority is to provide the remote display on the GamePad only. We have other ideas, but that's all we can tell you for now."
* Why no F-Zero instead? "H. Konno: It has always been a Mario Kart per console, so we wanted to get a new one to have more people interested by our new system. But I also hope that there will be an F-Zero."
* About track size: "In Mario Kart 8 tracks have also been narrowed compared to Mario Kart Wii and reflects more the size of the road."
* About kart customization: "Like Mario Kart 7 (but) with a little more choice"
* No track editor, even if they talk about it.
* About a Double Dash mode using the GamePad: "H. Konno: For Mario Kart Wii, 7 and 8, we decided not to use it. But this is a request that is often heard, so maybe we can meet this desire."

What do you think of the choices they've made for MK8? Would you have liked to see the gameplay style introduced in "Double-Dash" return?

To change subject, I just hope I can keep up with all these new mario fans...

Man some of you guys probably don't even remember when Deez had the cool splash page BEFORE you got into TMK...

What bothers me is that I realized I've been coming here since I was probably 14 years old, and in 12 years, I've still not yet met any of the people I once "worked" with.
