I know that most commercials suck these days. I like watching old movies recorded off of TV back in the 90s for the commercials, but this morning I watched a movie recorded from TV back in 2002, and the commercials were just annoying.

I just watched The Great Muppet Caper again the other day. I had forgotten just how great it was. No one makes movies like that anymore, let alone with puppets.

That replacing heads with Miis thing in Mario Kart Wii still amuses me. Mario was Groucho Marx, Luigi was Geno, Peach was my lousy Mii of Gypsy from MST3K, and Daisy was Miss Piggy.

It annoys me that Sakurai apparently only cared about games on the NES or from the last 5 years. The SNES gets no love. I mean, the SNES is just as old now as the NES was when Melee came out, why doesn't Nintendo consider it retro yet?

Mario actually takes up eight slots if you count all his spin-off series (and the series he spun off of), or four if you only count the current core Mario series characters. Or 11-15 if the Koopalings are playable.

I think Mario deserves some extra spots in Smash. He is where the name came from, after all: it's not The Legend of Smash, Star Smash, Smash's Adventure, Smash Red and Blue, Kid Smash, Smash Climbers, Metal Gear Smashid, Sonic the Smashhog, Smash & Watch, SmashBound (or MotherSmash) or Smashtroid.

Smash is a very funny-looking word all of a sudden.

Admittedly, I haven't downloaded any WiiWare games yet, but from his description, I assume it's the same thing as when you download a VC game.

Imagine how confused he'd be if he'd gotten Luigi.

"It's like the Mario shooting fire... but he's little! And he seems to have 'gone green,' but I see no correlation between short Italian plumbers and Al Gore! Perhaps he is only green because this is the color of the money that Nintendo greedily accepts as part of my transaction with them! The symbolism! It burns!"

I've always said that one of the main advantages of Nintendo shying away from voice acting is that they have the best grammar of anyone in the industry. I'll never forget Sonic Adventure 2's "I'll find and destroy that cannon... and then kick their emperial butts!" There were too many grammar mistakes in that game to point them all out, and far too many for grown men who write for a living, but that one has always stuck in my head.
