JoshTheN64Guy2000, if you're dissatisfied with the limitations and inconveniences of RPG maker 2000, maybe you should use a more versatile program (go Multimedia Fusion!) or even a raw programming language (such as C) instead..

I personally prefer using interpreters like C+ and VisualBasic (not just for weenies anymore, ok!) to code my own stuff, and feel the same way about games (although I haven't coded any games myself- yet).  Actually, I'm really not vary good at programming, but I try  ; )

On that note, does anyone know of some good C++ tutorial sites?  I have reviewed the literature for awhile now, but it is still a little confusing.  I may end up taking a class (no pun intended) to get used to the language.
I want to be where the Yaks can run free;
Where the marmosets can attack me!

You might try http://www.mindlick.com/programming/
I think it's a fairly good site, though I've not really been through it myself.

Visual Basic or C++ Builder. C++ Builder has more optitions that Visual Basic, but the code is more harder.

A class is not a bad way to start learning a new programming language, but be aware that the topics they cover will mostly focus around syntax, basic structure, and IO, rather than "cool" stuff pertinent to games. Believe me though, you don't want to try to code serious apps like games in a language until you understand all the basics, because you'll be like I once was, sitting there staring blankly at the screen for hours ^_^

I know BASIC, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, ML, and MIPS assembly now, but 3 years ago I didn't know squat, so it doesn't take *too* long to get the hang of it, if you stick with it. I'm currently working on a VC++/SDL-based side scroller, Toad's Adventure ;)

Oops. Due to a script error I couldn't tell if my message was posted or not, so it got reposted about 8 times apparently. I'm clearing out all the duplicates...
