Well, I'm glad as long as you don't have to face Bowser Jr. over and over again.

Come on, BP... Show a little love!

When it comes to 2D I think Mario looked his best in M&L:SS.  Very dynamic looking and also well animated. As for 3D I have to diss Galaxy a bit and say I like SM64 Mario better. The animation of him running by leaning forward and flailing his arms is too cute and funny for words.

On a related note, for how long have Starmen actually been known as "Starmen"? I can't recall them having been named such in the older platformers...

Since SMB, actually. While flipping through the manual I also noticed Super Mushrooms being called Magic Mushrooms. Nintendo is so crazy.

That was awesome. I wonder where the first clip of Mario skiing down the rooftop is from though.

Galaxy was a good game, but it's getting to that point where Mario games are getting fewer and further between, and unfortunately the bad seems to be outweighing the good.

I'm getting really confused about this statement... Please elaborate further.

I didn't care much for the licensed music, but what I thought was really cool was hearing instrumental/arranged versions of songs from SMB and SMB2 as background music. I'd buy a soundtrack CD with those any day.

I think SMAdventures has just as much in common with japanese manga/anime as it had with traditional western cartooning (and it was far more cartoony than the american ones).

But in NCS's favor they were pretty good for what they were. My favorite has to be the one when Mario and Bowser are flushed down into the sewers and gets inprisoned by a bunch of Mousers. Being chained together, Bowser and Mario has to work together to escape.

Ah yes! I had forgotten what it was called, but it was indeed Super Mario Adventures. Good stuff. I especially liked how the portrayal of the characters were true to what they would become later on in the games (Luigi is a cowardly goofball, Bowser is a big oaf etc.). In the NCS it always striked me as odd that Luigi was often the straightman and Mario more of a goofball-character.

I remember reading some of these when I was younger as they were bundled together with what was pretty much  the swedish counterpart of Nintendo Power. They were usually a good read  although I were never a fan of the artwork. The drawings were stale, boring and had sort of an unprofessional look to them. The coloring was usually pretty good though.

I remember liking the japanese Mario comics that ran in Nintendo Power better. Frenetic pacing, weird expressions and the most hilarious Luigi ever.

The only problem the original has is that it's a pain to unlock worlds A-D.

The best I could think of... Except of having Blastoise coming out of a Gene Kelly costume.

I never bothered to 100% SMS just because of those blue coins, but I enjoyed the game in general. The Boss battles were especially fun (Phantom Manta anyone?) and a huge improvement over SM64's bosses.
