Mario Chat / One-man Super Mario World soundtrack
« on: June 21, 2005, 02:35:58 PM »
Downloaded this yesterday, finally listened to it today. I give it six thumbs up.

The complete soundtrack to Super Mario World, covered by one man using dozens of instruments. Roughly in game order, faithful to the originals, with some bizarre artistic license thrown around.

Download it here!

Site Discussion / FF Regular Poster Child Contest
« on: June 16, 2005, 08:50:29 PM »
Presenting a new contest from TEM and Deezer! But mostly from TEM!

In this thread, post a picture that you think best captures the spirit of the Fungi Forums' regular. All members are eligble for entry. Do not post a response saying that you would have a picture if you had a camera! The winner gets a special web page, made by TEM, dedicated to their regularness, and a grab bag of random things in the mail (if the winner wishes to supply his or her mailing address), also from TEM.

All entries must be posted in this thread by July 1st, 2005. Entries will be judged, probably by TEM, MegaByte, and myself, by July 4th.

PS: Don't post a picture of yourself posting--that's too obvious. Good luck!

General Chat / What words do you hate?
« on: June 15, 2005, 11:09:40 AM »
I know a lot of people are going to say "Swear words!!1!11wtd", but if everyone does, this thread will get boring very quickly.

Here's what I can think of right now:
* catsup (instead of ketchup)
* olfactory
* when people refer to milk as "food"
* when people refer to hamburgers as "sandwiches"
* "Will call" (i.e. Ticketmaster)
* "Valu-pack"
* "Dust My Broom" (blues song)
* Preakness

Semi-annoying:
* wherewithall
* fixin's ("A tasty [food item] with all the fixins!")
* Candice Cameron & Candid Camera (only because I was kinda young when they were popular and I kept hearing the names over and over and the similarity messed with my brain or something. Hard to explain.)

General Chat / What gives you the willies?
« on: May 28, 2005, 05:33:23 PM »
Most people would say "fingernails on a blackboard," but no, apparently I am much weirder than that.

* Metal silverware cutting on cheap, glossy paper plates
* Fingernails on car paint
* Fingernails on some house siding material
* Touching paper or smooth wood with previously damp hands (i.e. right after drying my hands with a towel)

My dad has one I've never heard of before: The sound of taking a bite out of an apple.

Latest News / Mario helps sell Yakuman DS, Electroplankton in Japan
« on: March 06, 2005, 02:28:01 PM »
Just a heads-up on a couple of Nintendo DS games with Mario references that I think have a very slim chance of making it to North America. Yakuman DS, a Mah-Jongg game with Mario characters as avatars, is scheduled for a March 31st release in Japan. An unknown amount of music from Super Mario Bros., as well as other NES/Famicom songs, will appear in Electroplankton. To hear the Starman theme on its website, click the first circle in the menu, then wait for #09. Also, in the third circle, the next-to-last person plays the part with the Starman theme. Electroplankton has a Japanese release date set for April 7th.
