Why does Mario have a blue shirt and red pants on the SMB2 cart? It's really weird and makes it look like a pirate game. Anyone know why???

On the day of the photo shoot, Mario's red shirt and blue pants were at the dry cleaners.

I don't know specifically why, but the clothing wasn't as standardized back then.

Actually, i think I've just answered my own question:

For the first Mario games, Mario had this odd clothes style. Starting with SMB3, the style was set to his normal blue overalls, red shirt.
It's still pretty weird, though.

I think he had the blue overalls in Mario Bros.

I think Markio's right. That looks like Fire Mario. If you it was a picture of him with just a Super Mushroom, then his overalls would probably be blue and his shirt red.

Markio was talking about Mario Bros., not Super Mario Bros.. That is Super Mario from SMB pictured, not Fire Mario. Fire Mario is white and red.

Are you talking about the US SMB2 that was simply changed graphically to include Mario characters from a game called "Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic."

Or, the Japanese SMB2 which came to the US as Lost Levels in SMAS or for Super Players in SMBDx.

How many Mario brothers does it take to screw in a light bulb?  Only one if he is in Super Mario World and uses his spinning jump.

Don't you hate it when people make up stupid light bulb jokes?
