Actually, I would think that Baby Bowser couldn't be considered an enemy because he isn't of the age to be held legally responsible.  Of course, neither are any of the Koopa kids.

Yousa welcome!  I am glad to be of service.

(Hinopio can't decide whether it is best to acknowledge thanks, bites off half of keyboard in frustration)

I didn't recognize the Shaman at first, either.  The only Shaman I can remember is the one in SMRPG that sells Mario all the ocean-themed armor by the sea.  I don't know how to explain it...

Hmm...  Mr. Whitefolks has some very good points there.  Pokemon does seem to rule Nintendo these days.  But how long can Pokemon last?  I have read in an interview with Nintendo execs that they are preparing the next Mario and Zelda games to take over once Pikachu faints for the last time.  Pokemon may be Nintendo's cash cow, but what do you think they'll do with all that cash when the cow dies?  Sit there and deteriorate as a company?  Highly unlikely.

I've been an avid Nintendo and Sega fan for 11 years, so I might be a little biased.

I must admit, I have been burned by Rare these past years.  From my POV, Banjo-Kazooie was a Mario 64 clone/improvement, and Donkey Kong 64 was just a bigger Banjo-Kazooie.  Very disappointing.  Especially with Banjo-Tooie and Conker's BFD coming up... my personal future with Rare looks bleak unless they straighten up and include some innovation in their games.

Unfortunately I do not have gaming grandparents.  That would rock, though.  Just imagine Christmas with gaming grandparents!  Woo hoo!

*Nostalgic Interlude Ahead*
My parents (and grandparents, I think) searched all over my state for an NES the first Christmas it came out to give me as a gift.  They thought it was a fad...

Mario Dolphin wish list?

For starters, Princess kidnapping is a must.  With the exception of SMB2 and YI, that has been the conflict in all of the main Mario games!  As for storyline, who says the past Mario games don't have storylines?  Just because we aren't flooded with labyrinthine plot lines (like Final Fantasy) doesn't mean that Mario games have no substance to them.

You have to dig deep!  Why is it that game after game, Bowser kidnaps Peach.  And game after game, Mario rescues her?  There's a lot of underlying emotion there!  Imagine the mental anguish felt by Bowser each time his plans are fouled up by Mario's superiority or the incompetency of his own minions!!!

Sorry, got a little carried away there...

*sniff*  I remember the good old days...

Bouncing off the walls for three months, waiting for my birthday so I could get my grubby little hands on a copy of my favorite piece of Nintendo software- Super Mario RPG.

Come back, Square...

Question for Deezer-

Do you have an original CD copy of some/all of the soundtracks listed on TMK?

Just curious.

Hmmm... I'd say that by 'mature' Miyamoto-san means that Mario will become much more strategic.  Less cutesy?  SMRPG was highly cutesy (I think), but also highly playable and popular among a wide range of gamers.  Also, we must remember that the definition of the word 'mature' depends highly on the culture it comes from.  I am an American, and when I hear the word mature I think of violence and questionable actions.  For the Japanese, mature might take on a different meaning.  For the most part, Nintendo has been a cean, family-friendly company.

I'm not too worried about what happens to Mario in the future, as long as Shigeru Miyamoto has a hand in game development.  He usually takes care of his gamers.

Game Help / Re: Rare Scarf in SUper Mario RPG
« on: June 16, 2000, 06:07:05 PM »
Hold on- it's not as hard as it looks.  To get the Rare Scarf much more easily, try this.

From Bean Valley or Nimbus Land or the Barrel Volcano or wherever, make your way to the section of the cloud area with a red vine, a blue vine, a green vine, and two yellow vines.  Take the yellow vine up into the next area.

<Hint- When jumping to the upper yellow vine, Mario grabs onto the verrry bottom.  Do not hold 'down' on the controller a split-second after Mario grabs on or he will fall off.>

Hopefully, you are now in an area with four vines: blue, red, yellow and green.  You want to make it to the green one.  Climb on top of the short yellow vine and jump straight up to reveal a hidden platform.  Now, use the red vine to jump onto the platform and then onto the green vine.

You may now climb up the green vine at your liesure to enter an area with two treasure boxes; one containing a frog coin (joy!) and the other holding the Rare Scarf.

I was able to complete all this in about 5 minutes, and I'm not very good. :)

I only wish I had a picture... text is very confusing. ;)

Wait!!!  I went back and played SMRPG again, and I got to Yo'ster Isle.  When racing Boshi, be sure to press the button (A or B) exactly with the beat, and hold down each button until the other is pressed.  It also helps if you 'practice' following the beat during the short intro music before the race.

Hey, I'm glad to hear you aren't leaving.  You're an island of reason in this sea of insanity.  Perhaps we can petition to do something about the flooders and forum abusers, hmm?

Ummm... Deezer?  I hate to complain, but you might want to add a new Fungi Forum rule that involves no flooding.  Methinks you could start a petition string, to see what the other readers think about this
