Wow, your Stage Debut picture looks almost like mine!  I was beginning to wonder if anybody else in the world had taken a picture of that... where did it come from?

Actually, 1-player mode can actually be much faster.  It depends on how stupid or uncooperative your friends are.

I imported this game so I could play it before classes were over last semester and so I could get Navi Trackers as well.  There were a few points that got tricky without knowing Japanese...  Anyway, my roommate even bought a GBA just so we could have a 4-player game because it's so awesome.

That's not what he said.  He said IF DS doesn't support GBC.  We don't know yet.  There's a good chance that it's emulated if they aren't going to include the processor for it.

Shouldn't this be part of the oxymoron thread? ;-)

Most of the time I don't picture anything.  With staff or the few people's pictures I've seen, I picture that.  I didn't have a Weezer impression with Deezer (or Deez nuts for that matter) since I knew him first (but it works the opposite way).  With Chupperson, I always thought of Chu (Japanese for rat) and so always thought of things like Chu Chu Rocket  or or Bombchu (LoZ).  Sapphira sometimes makes me think of Pokemon Sapphire.  Popple makes me think of Popple the game.  Watoad occasionally makes me think of Hypnotoad from Futurama though I usually just remember his  fanart drawing.  If somebody has a distinct avatar (not really applicable here) then I may associate it with that.  Most of the time, it's not an image I get, but a feeling.  Example: Using poor grammar, spelling, and punctuation constantly will give me the impression of some stupid little kid.

It's probably the server.  Of course since you use AOL, it could be that too.  Also, you use IE and have "show friendly HTTP error messages" turned on.  Because of that, you probably won't see the real cause of the problem.

Summary:  Nintendo has shown Stage Debut at E3 for the past few years.  In it, you could transfer your face onto characters in the game, and seemed somehow tied to GBA.  The Stage Debut crate was shipped to E3 this year.  However, David claims that Stage Debut was not shown at E3 this year.  Prior to E3, Nintendo said they were going to show their new Gamecube peripheral, but they did not.  Now they say they will show it soon.  They've trademarked a Gamecube camera peripheral.  Too many coincidences.

If this is true, this isn't exactly the groundbreaking peripheral I'd hoped for.  1.  Eyetoy: it's been out for a year and shows you on screen in real time (for the game I've played).  They could have it do face mapping or anything else if they wanted.  2.  Game Boy Camera: this is quite old and allowed you to map your face onto Game Boy game characters.  3. Somebody's created a way to face map onto the N64 Goldeneye!  Maybe they didn't show it at E3 because their other announcements were so much better.  Also, I hope this peripheral doesn't die after a token 3 games like most of their other previous alternate control scheme ideas.  Or maybe they've got something better in store.  The problem is, they're kind of limited without a hard drive...

Chupperson was pretty upset that you made him Yoshi.  I suggest changing that unless you want him to ban you or something.  His power still isn't on and may not be on until Sunday, so I thought I should say this now before it progresses too far.

Gamecube? Camera? Crazy person's face? Sounds like the Stage Debut project has finally come to a head as I suspected.

Very interesting, though I think his technical details are flat out wrong.  FDS SMB just has the data in the ROM in different locations, so the pointers for minus world end up in different levels.  If it hadn't been chance that resulted in regular SMB having an underwater level as minus world, there would have been more levels just like with FDS SMB.  This wasn't intentional, just chance of where the pointers ended up in the ROM.  If beating -3 lets you choose your level, that's another chance thing, problably due to the comparison routine used to determine whether you're allowed to select your level after beating the game twice normally.  i.e. IT WAS ALL CHANCE, NOT SOMETHING PLANNED FOR BY NINTENDO as the author of that page states.  The fact that glitchy versions of levels already in the game were used proves this.  Chance again allowed the levels to be fully playable, unlike many of the levels obtained when using Game Genie codes.  If Nintendo did actually know about the bug, it's possible that they made sure the pointer at least went to playable levels instead of fixing the actual bug (which may have required extensive rewriting of the game engine).

Yeah, the SNES and N64 had the exact same internals worldwide so the second player would work fine in that case.

dudgladstone: they may have the buttons, but have you successfully used them?  I'd be interested to know if they've changed the NES-on-a-chip design.  I can't test my Game Theory Admiral because I haven't seen any of the accessories (i.e. extra controllers) for sale anywhere.

Umm vouchers are a Bush thing, not a Libertarian thing... I have no idea where you pulled that from.  If you do a web search for "voucher libertarian" on Google, you'll actually see several articles where they are generally against vouchers.
