Does anyone know how to get past the giant gap in 2-2 of the lost levels.  I've tried running from the top of the pipe but i just hit the blocks under the suspended pipe.  Please help.

Actually no one knows, and we're not supposed to ask about it. But word on the street is that www.gamefaqs.com has all the answers.

Go to the edge before the gap, and go one space to the left.  Jump, and you hit a block.  Jump on to that block(you need to run, I think) and go to the left edge of the block and jump up.  You hit another block, and then go on top of it.  From there, you can jump to the suspended pipe, which you run and jump across the gap.

Ah yes... the giant gap. THat took me a long time to figure out back when I first got Super Mario All-Stars.

Wait until level 8-2. That level uses the most ingenious trick I've seen in an NES-esque Mario game. Any of them.

Yes, the gap in 2-2 is a bit tricky to figure out. Requires a good deal of thought, more than any timed game should, at least.

Hasn't anyone told you that white men can't jump?
