Secret level in Mario 3

  I have wondered about this for 15 years.  In early 1990 after the Wizard had further taunted me with Mario 3 but before it was released in the U.S. there was one pizza joint in my hometown that had a playchoice 10.  I couldn't get there without parental transportation so I played it but twice.  In this version I recall a next to impossible mini-fortress in the first world. It involved some manner of invisible staircase.  Of course the mini fortress in world 1 has never been like this in any version of mario 3 I have played since. Can anyone corroborate or am I crazy?

I wouldn't be surprised.... That there was a teaser....... a demo of sorts....... They probably took that level out during the final production. It's kinda how a demo disk works..... but it's like a prerelease......
