Video Game Chat / F.E.A.R. Combat
« on: August 24, 2007, 12:24:45 PM »
Anyone here play F.E.A.R. Combat? It's the free multiplayer-only component of the popular Xbox360 game F.E.A.R.

I would like to get regularly scheduled private games going for Fungi Forums members. As stated before this game is absolutely free; both free to download and free to play online.
If you play this game or are interested and would like to start please post in this thread. Once we have enough people we can start deciding when to play (4 people or more).

Please do not post in this topic to say: you don't like this game, you don't like these kinds of games, I hate you TEM, or any sentence that has "I would but ..." "I wish I could ..." or anything in that vein. Only post to say you want to participate and/or to discuss scheduling times.

This game is rated M for Mature and contains graphic violence and naughty language. Do not play this game if you are under 17 years of age unless you have permission from your parents. Here is the link to get the game: http://www.joinfear.com/main

I'm free to play most days after 6 PM Eastern time.

Fan Creations / Legend of Zelda: Message From Beyond Time
« on: August 16, 2006, 01:58:58 AM »
The land of Hyrule is awfully diverse; mountains, dry deserts, refreshing lakes, wide grass lands, flowing rivers, you name it. But, our particular little tale for today takes place in the forest. Not just any forest, the mysterious and magical Kokiri forest. Here there is a boy, without a faerie. All the other children have one, but he does not. He used to have a faerie, but no one remembers it but him. He was part of a great adventure that spanned across space and time, but now it is only a memory. He's nothing but a normal Kokiri child now (or so it would seem to an outside observer, he knows better, he's actually a Hylian) besides not having a faerie, of course. This young lad's name was Link, and he was sleeping; as usual.

"Hey lazy flower wake UP!"

Link slowly climbed out of his dream; he was riding a horse through a terrible, devastated land that will never exist.

"You awake yet?! Listen up would ya, sheesh!"

Link saw that it was Mido, being his usual self.

"Whuzamatta," a still sleepy Link mumbled.

"I hate to say it, but we need your... erm. Help," the last word was barely a mutter.

"Seeing as some how you are a tad bigger than everyone else, maybe you could help get rid of the rampaging Deku Scrub running around outside. Think you can handle it, buster?" Mido queried.

Link suddenly sprung from bed, ready for action.

"Where did it come from?" Link asked.

"No one knows, it appeared this morning, here" Mido handed Link a Kokiri Sword and a Deku shield.

"You've never used anything like this before, but it's pretty simple, just use the shield to block those Deku nuts that thing keeps shooting and the sword to, you know, take it down." Link couldn't help but smile sheepishly at Mido's instruction.

Link walked outside and spotted the creature firing Deku nuts into the sky. Everyone and anyone else it could have shot at had taken shelter, it seemed, so it just shot at all the nothing that was in the air.

Without much concern (he had slain this manner of creature countless times, even though none of it happened in this time line) Link approached the Deku Scrub. He saw that this was a wild Scrub, not one of the "civilized" ones he encountered in Termina a few months back.

When approaching the Scrub, they danced the normal dance:

Scrub spits Deku nut,
nut bounces off of Deku shield,
nut stuns Scrub.

But one thing seemed odd, Link noticed, the Scrub seemed to calm down when Link arrived. It attacked him, but half-heartedly, shooting the nuts only hard enough to make them bounce back towards itself. And it didn't run away when  Link charged it, sword raised; it just rolled over, feet in the air. Link stopped and lowered his sword. There was something tied to the Scrub's leg.

Link slashed the Scrub, and took the paper that was tied to it. It was a very dirty, very brittle piece of parchment. Carefully, Link unrolled it and -

"Link! Thank you so much,"

It was Saria. Link stuffed the paper in his tunic while his back was still turned.

"No problem; it didn't put up that much of a fight," Link said turning around.

"No way, don't be so humble! Did you practice with a swordsman when you went on your trip?"

"No, just a lucky hit I guess."

"Hmph, you got that right, nothing but luck!" Mido was walked up from the direction of Link's house, where he had been hiding. Saria gave Mido a stern look

"... But thanks anyways," Mido muttered.

"I'm still kind of tired, I think I'm going to go back to bed," Link said, seeming slightly anxious to be off.

"Goodness, Link, you sleep more than anyone I know!" Saria exclaimed, she noticed Link's suspicious need to leave , but decided not to point it out to the less observant Mido.

Link ran off, waving good bye. He didn't know why he kept the paper a secret, but it seemed like that Deku Scrub wanted him to have it. He didn't like to keep secrets, especially from Saria, but he wanted to look at the paper himself first. He felt like it was almost glowing against his chest. It carried the aura of importance that a Spiritual Stone did; or the Ocarnia of Time.

Link finally arrived to the privacy of his house, he took out the paper, saw a blank and turned it over.

His heart skipped a beat.

The paper was mostly ruined from shifting around in his clothing. And the writing was crude and a poisonous color of purple, as if it had been written carefully with a stick and berry juice. But he could read it.

I WILL BE BACK

Next to the words was a sketch of the Triforce.

The top triangle was filled in.

</story>

I don't normally write or read fan fictions, ever. But to earn a point for my cabin, I wrote this piece for Camp Hyrule's fan fiction activity off the top of my head. I thought it wouldn't hurt to share it with you guys.

General Chat / X3: Love it or Leaf It? *Spoiler Klaxon
« on: May 29, 2006, 10:28:10 AM »
SPOILERS!!!! TURN BACK NOW PETTY HUMAN

<Chup|inert> so TEM
<Chup|inert> hast thou seen the X3
<Chup|inert> ?
<TEM> Yeah
<TEM> I was pretty dissappointed
<TEM> Let me tell you why
<TEM> 1. The movie was almost completely action and event oriented
<Chup|inert> that was its main detractor for me too
<Chup|inert> however I still liked it
<TEM> I felt like the writers had characters appearing and dieing or losing powers just to keep it interesting
<TEM> Character development and/or interest was pretty much zero for me
<TEM> reason number 22222
<Chup|inert> hopefully they'll get a better director for the next one
<TEM> The main character was no longer
Wolverine
<TEM> He's always been the most interesting character, and shifting the silver screen focus away from him was dangerous
<Chup|inert> hmm
<TEM> Although from the ending of X2 they could hardly help that, so I don't blame that on the movie makers
<TEM> It was still a problem, though
<TEM> REASON thr33
<TEM> Although this wasn't really a big problem, I didn't like
<TEM> it
<TEM> major design incontinuity for the Phoenix
<TEM> In X2, whenever Jean had a super telekinetic flash, her eyes burned
<TEM> When the lake overtook her, she burst into flames
<Chup|inert> yeah
<TEM> At the very end, you saw the large, fiery phoenix under the lake
<TEM> But, in X3, they made her look like what I imagine the Blair Witch did
<Chup|inert> hooheh

As you can plainly see, I will be voting "Didn't Like It". It would be very interesting to know everyone else's opinion on this movie; please give detailed reasons for why you voted either way.

Have any of you got unusual homepages? Personally, every time I start up Firefox, I am greeted by this. If we get some really weird ones maybe we will have a poll on whose homepage is the best.

Edit: I don't think Vid gets it.

I want LoZ:CE, for cheap, otherwise I can go buy it for not so cheap somewhere else. I might pay more if all the manuals and crap are still in the case. Post or email me if you have a copy for sale. Please don't post if you are going to state something that doesn't directly involve a serious offer to sell me a copy of the promo disc. If you do, I'll see the 1-UP Mushroom, and I'll get all excited because I'll think I'll have a copy to buy, and then I'll read your lame post about how you had a copy to sell me, but something happened to it so you can't. Don't do that to me; God help you if you get my hopes up and then let me down.

Video Game Chat / The Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow Project
« on: September 03, 2005, 10:25:42 PM »
Goal: Procure a Pokémon cartridge with all 150 Pokémon, each one being from a different person, by trading a lot.

How to Achieve the Goal: Have 149 people mail me their game cartridges, make the trade, and mail the cart back.

Is it Possible?: That is for YOU to decide!

Pros: You will be part of one of the greatest things ever. I will make a Master List of Contributers; your information(as much as you give me permission to put up) and the Pokémon you donated will be listed. You will be immortalized in this way.

Cons: I may be a crazy man trying to steal your videogames.

However, you will find that I am entirely trustworthy. Lizard Dude, Luigison, Chuppeson Weird, and MegaByte will vouch for me in respect to my excellent mailing etiquette.

If you wish to contribute please email me with this thread's title in the subject and which Pokémon you wish to trade me(also which one you wish to receive, I'm making absolutely no guarantee you will get it, though). I will then tell you if this Pokémon is available and give you my mailing address if it indeed is.

If possible send me the 2nd evolution of 3 stage evolution Pokémon. I predict these will be especially hard to find.

Any possible help will be greatly appreciated(tell your friends)!

Time slowed and Reality bent.
But on and on the Eggman went.
