I recently heard that in Mario Kart DS, you could unlock somebody named Rob. Is this the old NES perehpiral, R.O.B. the robot, or did I hear wrong and is it actually a Bob-omb, or something like that?

I've almost unlocked all the characters, but so far have no R.O.B. Also the characters that I have unlocked are:

Daisy

I believe there is about 14 characters total, and there should be about 4, or 5 secret characters.

There are 4 unlockable characters. I've gotten them all, and I'm fairly sure that I've unlocked everything in the game.

Are you sure R.O.B. is the fastest? I think Bowser in his alternate vehicle is just as fast.

How many of you have gotten rankings of at least one star on all the missions in Mission Mode so far, besides me?

But here is my main question: WHO EXACTLY IS R.O.B.? What sort of "NES peripheral" was he?

i don't know too much about him, because i don't use him a lot..

R.O.B is a NES perephrial which was useable with only two games. I don't know exactly how he was used, i think his eyes registered certain flashes on the TV screen and moved his hands to use a controller, or something... He's pretty fast, but definetly not the fastest, especially when you unlock all karts for all characters. I, personally, use Luigi the most...

To answer your question, smfan, i've completed everything. triple-star the missions, triple-star the GPs, beat all the staff ghosts.

Rob is faster than Bowser. Basically because he's metal and metal is heavy.

R.O.B. is awesome, dude I can't wait to go to college and take some video game making classes. First thing I do once I find out how to make 3D models is make a hack of MKDS. I'm gonna make koopa drivers and make birdo and even add sonic characters.

It looks pretty much the same as this, but the stand he's on isn't there; he's made so that he will be part of the kart, rather than drive it. The thing at the bottom of the picture resembles one of his karts.
