Video Game Chat / Re: Fun with SSB rom and 1964...
« on: January 01, 2006, 06:45:21 PM »
It IS possible in SSBM, but you have to do it in a place where the shells can't spread out. For example, go to Green Greens, and shape the blocks on one side like a U, with you in the middle. Then put the enemy under the "Human" setting, and move it into the U also. Then fill it with shells and use an attack that does not damage the surrounding blocks too much... the audio stops for a few seconds if you did it right, and you usually havve 100+ combo and 999% damage a piece.

Yeah, I used Mario Tornado. If my computer were not crap that whole attack would have taken about 1 second (I tried it on an N64).

Yes, I have come back out of the depths... so I was looking at David Wonn's glitch site, when I found some interesting combo glitches for SSB. Here is a video of one of them:

Mario's full name is Mario Alfredo Pasta Marinara Spagetti Jr. End of discussion.

...

Or, perhaps, not.

I figure SMUSA was only put on SMAS because Americans would be "[wtd]!" if it wasn't.

Also yeah the original pokemon carts (before US Red and Blue) were probably the glitchest Gameboy games ever. Actually, wait, I take that back, Metroid 2: Return of Samus is tied with them. Anyway, the original Red and Green carts had a few more glitches than the US Red and Blue, which I think caused them to crash on occasion. Not sure, though, have to go look that up sometime.

EDIT: Also, kudos to anyone who immediatly recognized and has done all three glitches that Bird Person was talking about (I have done all three ^^;).

Heh, I've heard of this, and I found a savestate online that places you right at the spot where you start. I did it on an emulator, but I have yet to get out my cartridge, and do it there.

EDIT: I am pretty sure that there is a complete chart for this glitch at GameFAQs, including what pokemon you can get out of it, and exactly how to do it with what people. You can even get MissingNo, "M", and other odd things.

Haven't really had much problems... except with AC adapters for GameBoys and their spawn. Not Car adapters, just AC adapters.

Ok, they work for a while, you aren't complaining. After the warrenty is over, they must be rigged or something to give people problems. Most of my AC adapters wont give power to my GBs unless they are turned at just the right angle... and then sometimes they still don't work.

AC adapters are a communist plot. I'll stick to my rechargable batteries, thanks.

This isn't really secret either, but Link, Young Link, and Samus can grab grabable edges from a distance using their grab attack and good timing.

In SMB 1 I discovered a glitch... but it requires a layout of blocks that can be found nowhere in the original game.

> XXX
#
XX
XX___

> = Mario
#

X = Block

_ = Pit

In a water level, when you duck right up against the wall on the left side, and the layout is exactly like that, the pit will pull you under the hanging wall and you will get past it. Kinda random, but it is required in level 2-2 of my SMB 1 hack.

NOTE: You do it with Super Mario.

My possibilities were Defender Ship, and then Space Invaders. I don't feel like copy and pasting them at the moment, though.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario and the Never Ending Flag Pole
« on: August 28, 2005, 10:10:32 AM »
You can actually do something similar to that in SMB1. Get a hacking utility (SMB Utility recommended) first. Since you can't really remove the block under the flag unless you start hacking deep in the code, you can do the next best thing: Remove the ground to the right of the flag for 2+ spaces. Mario will fall after touching the pole, and the game gets stuck in an unbreakable loop that hurts your ears. The same thing would probably happen if the block was removed from the bottom of the pole, and a pit was placed under it. I put it in the first level of my mario hack. Though kurtvegita's concept was pretty funny...
