Fan Creations / Lucky! (A Mario tale)
« on: June 10, 2008, 12:57:25 AM »
OOC: Hi everyone. I used to write a lot of stories on this board; or rather, I would write some stories, but they were usually quite long and often pretty well received by readers. I haven't written a new one in a long time, but for some reason the old fire to craft an epic tale woven from the tapestries of Mario and his companions' journies has been lit again, so I'm going to try my hand at another, after quite a few years. Maybe I'll finish it this time.

**Just a quick note about my writing style before I begin--my stories are for everyone, they rarely venture anywhere into obscenity, sexual contact or expression, drug use, or anything you wouldn't really see in a Mario game. However, as I crave character development and depth, and am going on 21 years old, there will be a maturity within the characters relevant to the situations and their experiences, and anything "offensive" will be conducted in a graceful and sensible manner that will fit with the accepted universe patched together by the various games throughout the Mario franchise. These kinds of things will be few and far between, but they are what makes this my writing and not just a textualized version of a Mario game. On another note, I am a big fan of the Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi game series, and love to add as much humor as is possible without compromising the integrity of the story into my writing--I break the 4th wall a lot, sometimes referencing things which 'remind' the reader that they are reading a fanfiction... so don't let it bother you when these things come up, it's all in good fun. I tend to write with traditional hero/enemy roles, and traditional settings and possibilities; in that sense I am very conservative, so don't expect any non-Nintendo crossovers, blood and gore, or completely uncharacteristic scenarios. If you are looking for those things, then I am not the writer for you.

That being said, I hope I'm able to write something worth reading. Feedback is very welcome. = )

Thunder cracked the sky like a horseman's whip, the lightning accompanying it serving to ellicit a sharp white flash through the tiny room. The King narrowed his fiery eyes, staring into a crystal ball that was filled with a swirling white mist, observing with a dark delight that images that it conjured. Across from him sat an aging female Magikoopa, her wiry yellowed hands lifted in concentrated conjuration over the mystical orb. The room was small, barely holding the shelled Overlord and his accomplice, containing only a small table and two chairs--and, of course, the object of their fascination: the crystal ball.

"How long does this thing take to work?" the King's gruff voice cut through the consistent patter of rain against the single high window of the stone walled room, dripping with a familiar impatience. He drummed a clawed hand against the wooden tabletop, leaving tiny nicks along its rough, dusty surface. Receiving no immediate response from the Magikoopa, he snarled, baring a row of menacing fangs... "Kammy!"

Kammy Koopa was snapped out of her apparent trance, adjusting her deep violet magikoopa's hat and shifting her gaze uneasily to the Koopa King, "Ah, erm, I'm sorry Lord Bowser... it should only be a moment... I'm having trouble making the connection..." She thwapped the crystal ball lightly with her fist, grumbling, "C'mon you piece of junk, we haven't got all day..." It was a hoarse whisper beneath the torrential rain.

The fog began to clear, and there within the orb, with a resentful but smug satisfaction, the two of them peered at the hazy face of a familiar foe...

--

Luigi sat up quickly; too quickly in fact, smacking his forehead against the bottom side of the bed's upper bunk. "Ouch!" He rubbed at his face, wincing, letting the pain subside before taking a glance at the clock across the room. "10 o'clock! Mama mia, I swear I just laid down..." But despite the plumber's feelings, sun was streaming in through the window, lighting the red-and-green decor'd room with the ethereal splendor often present on calm, sunlit mornings. Slipping quietly out of bed, Luigi noticed voices coming from the kitchen/dining area of the house he shared with his elder brother Mario...

"--It just arrived in the mail yesterday," Princess Peach Toadstool marveled. She was sitting with Mario at the small table in the main living area of the house, displaying a beautiful jeweled amulet in her perfectly spotless white gloves; it hung from a petite golden chain, displaying a deep ruby jewel that was bordered by a golden floral pattern. She smiled, looking it over; there was something alluring about it, more than just its beauty--it appeared almost priceless, ancient but at the same time sparkling and new. She didn't know who had sent it or why, but it was addressed to her. Probably a gift from one of the many benefactors she had aided militaristically or financially over her years maintaining royal responsibilities in the Mushroom Kingdom, she had thought.

Mario smiled, the ruby hue of the amulet reflecting lightly in his sky blue eyes, "It's-a ME, MARIO! quite a beautiful gift!" he mused, resting his chin in a gloved palm; in truth, he found Peach herself to be much more alluring, and delighted in the fact that she enjoyed the trinket so much. He watched her marvel over it, smiling lightly beneath the thick, reliable hairs of his mustache. The two of them had been drinking chilled tea when she had decided to show off her new jewelry, waiting for Luigi to get up.

The younger brother took a seat with them after a moment, having dressed in his usual lime-green attire--he was still pulling on his worn out brown shoes. "Sorry I slept in so late... I didn't-a sleep so well. I had this nightmare that some weird fella' was making up stories about my life and writing them down..." Luigi rubbed the sleep from his eyes, noticing a cup of tea sitting waiting for him at his usual seat, a green-stained wooden chair with wobbily legs.

Peach smiled, "Well good morning anyway, Luigi. We've got plenty of time, don't worry about sleeping in. The train doesn't leave for another couple of hours."

Luigi nodded groggily, picking up the tea and sipping it. He stirred a bit in surprise, "It's-a cold!"

Mario laughed, sitting back in his chair. Peach giggled lightly, "It's supposed to be cold, silly! It's iced tea. You don't want hot tea on a sunny summer day, do you?"

Luigi laughed a bit at himself, taking a bigger swallow of the sweet tea. "I suppose not, heh heh. Just-a took me by surprise." Mario gave him a wink, and the two shifted their attention back to Peach, who had planned their little adventure. Mario chimed in, "We've-a both got everything packed already, so we can-a relax for a little while before we catch the train." He noticed Peach had put the necklace back on and tucked it beneath the fabric of her shirt; she wore a pink sundress and sandals. 'She always manages to dress so well for the occasion, even on muggy days like today,' he thought, fondly watching her. Peach caught his eye, smiling shyly at the way he still seemed to observe her so carefully even after all of the time they'd been together.

Luigi had taken out a wrinkled piece of parchment, yellow with age, and was studying it carefully against the worn tabletop. He scribbled something in blue ink onto the lower left corner of the paper and tucked it into the front pocket of his overalls. Mario noticed that whatever he wrote had immediately disappeared or dispersed into the parchment, which appeared to be wholly blank. Mario raised a brow inquisitively, "What's that, disappearing ink? Another one of E. Gadd's inventions?"

Luigi grinned coyly, "I've-a got a few tricks you don't know about big brother." Mario wondered for a moment what Luigi would be writing, but decided it was probably disappearing ink for a reason.

The three sat and idly chatted for a little while longer, enjoying the iced tea Peach had made and occasionally arranging and discarding items they had packed.

The plan was for the three of them to spend a week at a coastal beach resort, a private establishment on a small, unnamed island a little ways off of the coast of sunny Isle Delfino. But hey, if they just spent a sunny week on the beach, it wouldn't make for a very interesting fan fiction!

***

OOC: That's all for now, I need to catch some z's. I don't have anything planned too far ahead at the moment, so this could go in a number of directions. Let me know what you think! I'll probably write again tomorrow (and more when it's not almost 3 in the morning), but it's good to get it started. Ciao!

Mario Chat / Seasonal Mario games.

Hidey ho mammals.

... Ugh.

Er, I was going to ask, anybody else play Mario games according to seasons? Since I finished Super Mario Sunshine, I tend to wait until the summer to play it/mess around with it. Something about running around sunny Delfino Plaza while it's just as sunny outside makes me really happy.

I also get cravings for Luigi's Mansion in the fall/October, because of Halloween and stuff.

I can't think of any more right now. Oh, but I like to play Super Mario Galaxy at night while the stars are out, and for some reason I always tend to play the Paper Mario games during the winter when I'm snowed in and stuff.

Also wanted to say, it's been forever, and I doubt anyone remembers me, but it's good to be back!

Has anybody ever seen that little movie? It's like, Donkey Kong, and then a bunch of other Nintendo games with characters jumping, and it's set to Van Halen's "Jump".

If so, where can I find it?

Anybody notice the obsession with moustaches in Mario games? 'Stache' power in M&L? And like every good guy in Super Paper Mario has a moustache. And they talk about/reference them almost constantly in dialogue.

For the record... I have a moustache, too.

Fan Creations / Another Day, a Mario fanfic.
« on: April 04, 2007, 03:52:03 PM »
Prologue: Just Another Day

Mario woke up lazily, rubbing his sky blue eyes and sprawling out in an unnatural position atop the bunk bed he and Luigi slept in. He had been on the top bunk since he could remember, using the excuse that he "needed the exercise" in order to claim it for himself. But in actuality, he had often liked to pretend that he was laying on a cloud, the ground (and all the cares and worries any ground-laden bed might bring) far away from him.

Mario climbed down lazily, seeing the Luigi was already up (and had probably already gotten dressed, brushed his teeth, made AND eaten breakfast, etc, etc). After a quick (and obviously uneventful shower), Mario pulled on his usual red shirt, denim overalls, and lucky cap, feeling much more awake than he had beforehand. The sun shone in brightly through his bedroom window; it was then that Mario realized (to his delight) that he, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Daisy were scheduled to go on a camping trip that day.

Sliding his worn feet into even more worn shoes, the little plumber headed out of his house (affectionately dubbed the 'Pipe House' by many passers-by and sightseers) to find Luigi already out front on the porch, checking a list of items and placing them, meticulously, into an already overstuffed backpack.

"Mornin', bro." The slightly taller, slightly thinner Mario brother said, not looking up from his list.

"Mornin'. What's all that?" Mario was referencing Luigi's big bag of supplies.

Luigi adjusted his old green cap and grinned beneath his perfectly symmetrical moustache, "Camping supplies." After a few moments, the backpack was closed and the list was put away. It might be assumed that Luigi was all done packing.

After a few more moments of checking things and getting supplies for the trip, the Brothers Mario headed away from their home and hopped into the Toad Town warp pipe: they had a train to catch!

***

Yoshi was early, as he had planned, wanting time to look around the area before anyone got there, and to sample any exotic fruits that might be found along the edge of the thick forest. The plan was to hike partway up the mountain (Shroomipuff Mountain, to be exact), and find an old lagoon that set nestled beneath a higher, jagged peak that capped off into snow. The mountainside was not unassailable, but it would be a rough climb. Many plants and bizarre trees dotted the mountain, which rose like a slumbering green giant about fifty miles north of Toad Town, and could be seen from any surrounding flatlands.

Yoshi looked up, squinting towards the sun. It was a beautiful day to start their camping trip. As he was thinking upon whether or not there would be fruit trees growing around the lagoon (which was fabled to be at least 80 degrees at all times!), he noticed a train puffing along around the smaller mountain range which lead to Shroomipuff Mountain; the train that Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Daisy should have boarded.

***

Luigi sat staring out the window at the passing mountainsides, listening to the rhythmic chugging of the train as it billowed clean gray smoke out into the blue sky overhead. He stared down at the blank pad on his lap. He had been meaning to start a journal record of the trip, but it was hard to do considering Daisy had a firm, affectionate grip on his writing hand. He swallowed nervously at her advance, glancing to Mario who sat across from him with pleading eyes; but the older brother was fast asleep, leaning up against the window of the train. Peach and Daisy were carrying on in excited tones about the events planned out for the camping trip (it had been their idea, after all), even going so far as to attempt to sketch a rough map on one of the napkins left over from their earlier meal. Luigi huffed and slid his notebad back into his backpack, which was on the floor before him. They had been on the train for about two and a half hours, and knew they'd be reaching their destination soon. Giving Mario a firm nudge with his foot, he brought his older brother back to reality.

Mario blinked lazily as he awoke, the sun hitting his eyes and causing him to wince. "We're almost there," he heard Luigi whisper, and nodded groggily. He hadn't slept very well the night before, and the nap on the train had done him so good. He could remember waking two or three times from bad dreams, but couldn't remember anything about them. Just then, an announcement came over the intercom...

[bzzkt] "We will be arriving at Shroomipuff Mountain shortly."

Excitement buzzed amongst the four as the train began to slow, excited for the trip, for the sunshine, for the camping food, and excited to see Yoshi after a long absence from him.

OOC: That's all for now. I haven't written one of these in a long time, but if anybody is around who remembers my old stories, they were usually well received, so I thought I'd try my hand at another. Please give me a little feedback (and inspiration) so that the next chapter can be even better. It'll get more interesting/conflict-worthy soon. Stay tuned!

Mario Chat / Super Paper Mario *spoilers maybe*
« on: April 02, 2007, 03:22:56 PM »
Hey.

I was reading about the aforementioned game on Wikipedia, and it said "Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi are playable." Does this mean it's going to work like Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) where you can choose who to be, like a party, or does it just mean they'll be random times where you play as them for short periods like the last two Paper Marios?

Also, have to say I'm a little shocked at the way the fighting system has been changed so drastically. Not disappointed, slightly excited, but mostly just surprised at it. I'm sure it'll be fun, though.

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! WOOT!

Fan Creations / Mario & Luigi: Point of View

Howdy folks! It's me again, and yes, I'm writing another Mario fanfic, but this time I'm co-writing with my brother luigenius. This is going to be a first-person narrative where we take turns, first as Mario, then Luigi, respectively. It's probably going to start out with short-ish posts, but get longer as we both get the hang of it. So without further ado...

Chapter 1: Mario

It had been raining all day, and I was bored out of my mind. Luigi, Peach, Daisy and I were supposed to go on a nice sunny picnic on Yoshi Island... but obviously that was cancelled. So I'd been sitting here, tossing cards into a hat and watching the silver drops mercilessly plunk against the ground outside. In the adjacent room, our little TV was on, and a reporter was saying something about flood warnings in the lower lands of the Mushroom Kingdom. Someone was supposed to check the weather before we decided the picnic date, but that certain green-clad younger brother of mine had been too busy perfecting some sort of stuffed mushroom recipe.

I sighed, "Hey Luigi, do you still have that secret room under the bedroom? Because it might get flooded." I wasn't sure if Luigi knew that I knew about his secret room or not, but in all seriousness, I was a little concerned. I'd been in plenty of flushed pipes, but a flood could do serious damage.

Luigi was caught up in reading some book. I shrugged and hopped off of my chair, walking over to the window and peering out at the falling rain. "Mama mia, I could be having pasta and cake right now." I was a little bummed, but I tried not to be in too sour of a mood. Crossing the room towards the kitchen, I listened to the echo of my shoes on the floor, wondering if Luigi could even hear them, considering how absorbed in his book he was.

I sat down at the kitchen table and re-read Peach's picnic invitation...

Dear Mario,

Daisy and I are having a picnic on Friday! And we would love for you and Luigi to come join us! We're going to bring pasta and I'll bake a cake! Of course, there will be plenty of hors-doeurves and fingerfoods too. Maybe some Yoshis will join us? I hear the canteloupe there is delicious. Please make sure to tell Luigi!

Yours,

~Peach

PS: Not to jinx us, but if it rains, we'll have to call it off.

I sighed heavily. I'd been looking forward to this so much. But maybe we can re-schedule it? This isn't so bad... I'm just bored out of his mind! Luigi seems content to sit and read... I'd rather be out doing stuff. Mama mia.

Hey everybody. I recently got a Nintendo DS, and one of the first games I bought was Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Now, I love RPGs, and I love this one so far (haven't finished it yet). I loved both Paper Marios, and Super Mario RPG. Should I get Superstar Saga for my DS?

Hey everybody. I used to write some semi-popular fanfictions on here, but it's been forever. I'm not sure if anyone who'd remember me is still around... I mean, it hasn't been that long, but still. Anyway, I'm going to try my hand at another. Just start it tonight (since it's late), and it'd be nice to get some feedback.

Mario almost yelped as the bedsire siren mercilessly kicked from his dream. His alarm clock (which was unreliably old and out of style) fuzzily blasted a terrible, smooth-jazz rendition of what we might call the "Toad House" theme. The groggy plumber fumbled for the undersized buttons on the blasphemous contraption while using the other half of his consciousness to continue his nightly battle with unruly sheets. Finally, after much confused awakening, all was still. The remnants of a bizarre dream were fading in Mario's mind, but like the doused embers of a fire, they quickly died down to a warm hum and died. Mario held his eyes closed, expecting the blinding morning sun to greet him all too soon upon opening them. But upon opening his eyes, Mario discovered that it was just the middle of the night. The lucid stars glimmered softly, and things seemed peaceful. He could hear the measurable rise and fall in Luigi's breathing--his younger brother was clearly still asleep. So what was going on?

Mario's eyes slowly focused in on the dim digital clock numbers: 2:58. Why was his alarm set for the middle of the night? Was this a very belated (or very early?) April fool's joke? Mario smoothed his moustache and sat up in bed, peering out the window opposite his top-bunk residence to the gentle spires that dotted the night sky so generously. Heroic Mario sighed, "Now that I'm awake, I'm never going to get back to sleep... may as well take a walk or something." He quietly climbed down from his bunk, stepping into prepared slippers, careful not to wake his slumbering brother. Mario ran a hand through his short-cut brown hair, pulling a red-tinted night gown on (though it was more pink now... neither brother was very good with bleach washing) and looking around for his usual red cap. After a few moments of hapless searching, Mario spotted it hugged tightly in the arms of Luigi, a pathetic excuse for a teddy bear. The older brother scoffed, and pried it away from his sibling with some difficulty, the green-affiliated Mario brother making an odd noise at this shift and loss, but remaining asleep.

Mario straightened his red cap upon his head, and quietly left the house, closing the door behing himself and stepping out onto the porch. He paced over to the railing, scanning the calm night air with sky-blue eyes. It was quiet and still, a picturesque evening. Mario stretched, the exercising of his sleepy muscles rushing blood through him and waking him further. He smiled lightly after a moment, musing to himself, "I wonder what the night life in Toad Town is like?" With that, the heroic plumber ambled quietly over to the dull-looking green pipe a few yards from the porch, and hopped in (as was customary), popping out the corresponding end within the western edge of Toad Town's central square.

Naturally, there weren't many people around. But Mario knew some shops were open 24-hours a day, and some of Toad Town's residents made a living off of the different atmosphere the bustling city offered during late hours. Mario, knowing how easy he'd be to spot (and not wanting to draw a crowd) flipped his hat inside out; the navy blue hue it sported, combined with his nightgown and slippers, did make him stick out a bit... but he certainly didn't look like the Mario everyone knew. Tucking it low about his face, he walked at a moderate pace towards the center of town.

Though it didn't hold a candle to Rogueport, Toad Town did have a bit of a shady side, and it made itself more than obvious to Mario as he ambled through its streets. Lonely Toads stood on cobblestone corners, watching alleyways in suspicious speculation; a gang of Koopa-Troopas could be heard bantering and laughing as they tagged the backside of a small general store. Mario raised an eyebrow at these odd going-ons, but didn't slow his pace any, beginning to wonder if taking a walk through the bad part of town at this hour had been such a wise idea. He began to turn down an alley that he assumed led back towards the more "civil" parts of town when a creepy looking Toad in a dust-coat stopped him.

"'Ey buddy... you here for the stuff?"

"What?" Mario had no idea who this Toad was or what he wanted.

"You know... the stuff..."

Mario simply stared at the character from under the navy blue hue of his cap.

The Toad scoffed and walked off. Mario watched him go, and he stopped at the next person he came upon, asking that unfortunate soul the same bizarre question. Mario almost laughed and continued down the alleyway; he was almost out the other side, when he heard some jovial laughing and clinking of glasses from behind a small wooden door that was accessible down a short flight of stairs at the side of the alley. Mario shrugged, curous, and walked down the stairs. He listened for a moment, before decidedly rapping upon the wooden barrier.

An eye-slot slid upon. A raspy voice, represented by dark, bloodshot eyes, asked huskily, "What'chu want, nightgown man?"

Mario started a bit at the menacing sound of the voice, but answered confidently, "I heard some... noises. I was curious about what's going on down here."

The voice emitted what must have been a laugh (but who knows)... "This here's the ToadzEze pub. We're just a bunch of folks who like to have a good time. But you don't looks like no Toad t' me... unless... you're the new muscle?"

Mario stammered, not sure what the little man behind the door meant.

The Toad-bouncer laughed, "Alrigh', I get the point. Come on in. Don Pianta's been suspectin' youse."

Mario was rushed inside before he could react or resist. The last thing on his mind was how the Toad must have meant "expecting"...

***

Alright, I gotta' stop for now, I'm real tired, but I'll continue it tomorrow (er, later today, technically). But feedback would be nice. It's going to get more interesting, involve more characters than just Mario, this is more of an introduction to things.

Mario's eyes squinted and then opened, adjusting to the sweet morning sunlight that cascaded quite ideally through his bedside window; he climbed down groggily from the top part of the bunk bed he shared with his younger brother, Luigi, gradually waking up with each step down the wooden ladder.

Having dressed himself in his usual overalls and red attire, Mario paused near the door to his room; he could hear commotion outside, which was strange, because Luigi was the only other person in the--

"Oh!" Mario exclaimed, remembering that they had invited Princess Peach and Princess Daisy to their humble home for the week's end. He paused a moment longer, straightening his M cap and dusting off his overalls, before opening the door to the kitchen and living room of the house.

The scene was a simple one. Luigi was sitting at the table, feet propped up, sipping a lemonade through a straw; Peach was tidying things up with one hand while cooling herself from the batting of a cute pink fan with the other; Daisy was sitting on a sofa, which was a loud red against her gay yellow dress, caught up in conversation with Toadsworth, who had obviously dropped by "for a visit," as he put it, though the four of them knew that he was worried about Peach's well-being, as unfortified a feeling as it was.

They all seemed to turn in unison to greet morning, an acapello of "Hello," "Good morning," "Hi," "Greetings," and "Look who decided to finally get up!"

Mario laughed lightly and nodded to his friends, walking through the kitchen and sitting at the table opposite his younger brother, Luigi. The sun was well up into the sky, and though it was summer in the Mushroom Kingdom the climate was temperate and mild, making for a comfortable atmosphere.

Peach and Daisy had come to visit because the heroic plumber duo would be taking a trip to Mushroom City the next day, having been summoned there by a mysterious letter; they would be gone for two weeks at the least, the letter said, and both Princesses knew that neither brother would turn down the invitation.

As Luigi Mario sat sipping his lemonade, he went over the letter in his mind...

To the famous and prestigious Mario Brothers

You are hereby and herein cordially invited to the quarters of Master Ishbin Cornelius Kooplattius the Third to attend a special event that will not be disclosed to you unless you deign to come! Directions have also been enclosed, and if you do decide to join me at my Mushroom City suite, you will be furnished with everything you need to complete the task I plan to assign you. Cheerio.

It was signed with the same wacky, drawn out name. The name gave Luigi the creeps... it sounded so... expensive. He was afraid he'd break something and have to spend his days at Don Pianta's casino, trying to work out of debt.

Peach sat down at the right side of the table, looking to Luigi and then to Mario, before asking in her soft, refined voice,

"Are you two excited about going to Mushroom City? I would just love to go! I hear they sell everything you could ever dream up, and everyone is cultured and intelligent!"

Luigi finished his lemonade with a noisy slurp of his straw, piping in, "That's-a not what I heard. I heard parts of it were filled with crime, that people got robbed all the time and Shy Guys and Bandits infest the place!"

"Oh, that's silly, Luigi," Peach replied.

Mario drummed his gloved fingertips on the table, "I think you're exaggerating a bit, Bro, but Peach, he does have a point."

The princess nodded somewhat gravely, considering what Luigi had said but figuring the Mario Brothers wouldn't have any trouble with Shy Guys or Bandits or anything like that. She did find the letter to be a peculiar delivery, however--there was no return address on it, and it was written in a strange purple dye. The stationary was fitted in the corners with a dialect that none of them had recognized. Who was this Ishbin fellow...?

The rest of the day the 4 spent talking, walking in Toad Town, playing games, etc. That evening, after Peach and Daisy had said goodbye and wished Mario and Luigi luck, the younger plumber lay staring at the sag in Mario's bed above him as his tubby brother lay snoozing and calm.

Luigi couldn't shake the ominous feeling he got from his letter. Since his whole "mansion" experience, he had been wary in answering anonymous letters. But if Mario thought it was okay, he figured it couldn't hurt to go see what this Kooplattius guy wanted.

*-*-*

How is it so far? I'm just getting started. Hopefully I'll finish this one this time. I haven't written in a while, but you gotta' start sometime.

READER'S NOTE: THREAD MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

CAUTION!!!

With that...

I just decided to make this thread because of something that just happened to me. I ran into a troup of Crazee Dazees in Twilight Town's woods and they almost demolished me right there--it wouldn't have been so bad but I hadn't saved since before I'd even found Darkly, so I would have lost a lot of progress.

Somehow I managed to get out of that fight, Yoshi having 0 HP and Mario with only 1, and I noticed I wasn't carrying any healing items. Pretty bad? Well, instead of heading back to Twilight Town to buy some, I just kept going. Somehow I got through the entire woods without getting killed all on that 1 HP; I mostly used damage items, but I never ran. It seems suitable, considering how spooky the place was already, that I would be on the edge of my seat hoping I didn't KO. I finally made it to the Heart Box and the save point, and boy was I glad. This about about 10 minutes ago...

Ciao.

I have a question, but the e-mail affiliated with your name didn't work for me. If you want to contact me, my e-mail works. I'd ask it here but it's about information you might not want to give out.
