We have been shopping for a used car for a few weeks, and are considering a Chevrolet Malibu. Of course, there are all kinds of trim styles, engine sizes, interior layouts, etc., so we're kind of lost on what compilation is really suitable. I really like a 2003 black Malibu LS V6 we found.

This leads me to the reason for the topic: What kind of car do you (or your parents) own? How big is the engine? Leather seats, auto or manual, etc.? What's the year? Trim style? What color? Most importantly: How do you like it? Does anyone here have a Malibu, and if so, how is it? Discuss your cars!

My mom's official car is a Honda Accord EX. It's very nice, no complaints about the gas mileage, roomy, comfortable even on long trips, and lots of cupholders. I like it.
My dad's car would seem to be a big ugly maroon Chevy Astro, more recognizable as that van everyone in California had in 2000. It was my grandma's, we used to have a white one which we recently sold. It's... useful for lots of passengers, I guess. Feels like a bus though. Don't know much about the gas mileage. I wouldn't want my dad to sell it for a truck though.
My sister's car, for which she only has a permit as of March 31, 2007, is I believe a Ford Escort. I won't complain about it because as soon as she gets her license, it's my alternative to the terrible bus rides to and from school (but only until this semester's end). It's maroon, two doors, with Jack Skellington mats I got her for Christmas.
My car, is, for the second post today, a Karmann Ghia. It's retro. Stick, fairly efficient on gas, would look incredible with a makeover and some tweaks in the interior, awesome leg room in the front, brand new brakes... It's not a whole lot right now, but I love that car. If you missed The Hopeful thread (as if anyone ever does,) I have photos, the front and the back.

To answer your Malibu question, I couldn't tell you if I've seen one. Don't get an Astro or an Escort. You probably won't find one, but Ghias are cool... but not really family car material. The Accord is a nice family car though... and the EX has a moonroof!
All your dreeeeeeams begiiin to shatterrrrrr~
It's YOUR problem!

Well, yeah. Honda is kind of out of the question. We are a tall family and Honda tends to make smaller cars, although I think the Accord is a bit bigger. Honda is out of our price range, too. Two other cars we were interested in were the Nissan Altima and the Ford Taurus.

My dad has a red Audi TT roadster convertable!  I'd love to drive it, but I don't know how to drive sticks yet.

Don't get a Taurus.  My family's '95 Taurus went through, like, six speedometers.  We traded it for a red '04 Grand AM about a year after my mom died.

My music instructors had a gray Astro van, but they sold it to a neighbor.  That's too bad cause, even though its speakers didn't work anymore and the engine was feared of dieing during a long Jazz Band/Choir trip, that van was pretty awesome

Sorry to hear about your mom. It turns out we got a 2005 regular Chevy Malibu, dark blue. My brother liked the Taurus when we were looking for cars but the Malibu seemed to fit best.
