Two arguments were made against my vote to Delete, and I'm responding to those now.
But you see, deleting this topic won't delete the fact that people know how to edit posts, delete topics, etc. It will only delete a bunch of words and symbols.

True. However, that has little if anything to do with my reason for wanting this thread deleted. This is what I said:
There is ONE reason behind my decision, and I think it is of paramount importance. . . . I would very much like to distance myself from this [David's threat to close the forums] as much as possible, and the best way I can see for doing that is to delete this topic.

I tried to make it clear that there is only one reason that I want this thread deleted. The dangers of misuse of the secrets, of flame wars, and of other things are certainly real and worth considering, but I think they quail in importance to the reason I was using. If the forums are deleted, so will be all of those other problems. So, in my mind, David's threat should be the first order of business. And, also in my opinion, the best way to deal with it is to delete this topic.
And the way I see it, this thread is like a hunk of nuclear waste. Dangerous as it is, just sitting there... dangerous if you mess with it. Just leave it alone and it will dissopate.

Oh, whoops. This wasn't directed at me. So there was only one argument against my vote. Oh well, I'll respond to it anyway.
That's a pretty good analogy, Steve. Nuclear waste is best when just left alone. Do you know why? Because there is no better option. If you try to do anything with it, you'll likely only cause problems. Destruction of matter is impossible, as you'll learn in a basic chemistry class. That's what keeps nuclear waste from being destroyed. If authorities could destroy it, they most certainly would. Doing so would remove the threat of harm that arises if anyone comes by and tries to mess with it.
It is here that the analogy no longer fits: we do have the option of destroying the "nuclear waste" of these forums. What environmentalists and health specialists can only dream of doing with the real stuff we can do without trouble to this topic. Nuclear waste is left to dissipate because that's the only choice; with this topic we have another choice, one that would remove the potentially dangerous threat instantly.
