So uh, I remember some people asking if the block "physics" glitch in All-Stars would be returning for the 25th anniversary edition.

Ya know, where instead of bouncing down at an angle when you hit a brick block, it stops you and pulls you up like half a block (tends to happen most of the time if you keep holding the B/A button while hitting the block, or you're not running).

Well, it's still in the 25th anniversary.

Never expect Nintendo to do anything but the bare minimum when porting games.

You don't buy the SMAS 25th anniversary package for the game disc. You buy it for the art book and audio CD.

It doesn't affect me either way (although I'm sure you were referring to Weegee), so I'm still getting it. I just figured I'd let people know it still exists.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo just wrote a quick emulator with a video filter and passed it off.

Well, yeah. Otherwise, they might have to put effort into acknowledging their oldest customers.

So again, why don't they just make the book and CD a Club Nintendo prize (or maybe just available in stores) and release SMAS on VC?

a Club Nintendo prize
Where it'd be too late to celebrate the 25th anniversary, which is, you know, the entire point.
available in stores
Where it'd be relegated to the strategy guide rack and sit for all eternity.

By releasing it with Super Mario All-Stars, they simultaneously put it on game shelves, where it'll sell by virtue of having the Mario and Wii names on it, and rerelease a collection people have shown, on numerous occasions, that they will buy. Even for thirty dollars, which, again, is more the cost of the bonus goods than the game itself.

This is the first page on the internet I've seen that made me realize not one, but two of my book ideas were already taken.

That's hardcore. I doubt they'll gain the rights to depict actual gaming icons like Donkey Kong, though.

After nearly six years of use, it looks as though my Nintendo DS is finally ready for retirement. Contrary to my previous observation, it's actually the touch screen that's malfunctioning. The top-left corner of the lower screen frequently registers pressure when I'm not touching it, while the middle is sometimes completely unresponsive. I'm not sure whether I should send it to The Great Landfill In Albuquerque the Sky and replace it with a DS Lite, or wait it out for the 3DS.

Wait for the 3DS. My Lite is getting into its years, too, but I don't use it much anyway, so I'm holding out for the awesomeness that will be the DS of 3.
