Game Help / Re: MKDS Snaking
« on: June 23, 2006, 12:08:58 AM »
For me, snaking came natural. I own all the previous Mario Kart games, and for me, it only makes sense to boost as often as you can on a track. I really have no love loss for the people who give up the game because of snaking. It's not even something you can draw a line with. For example, when I can I use boosts? Just once per turn? Can I boost going into it or coming out of the turn? It's just too hard to define where this technique begins. All that aside, the designers intended to put snaking in the game, so if you don't like it... um, play Tetris? :-"

Anyway, simply put, snaking is just boosting back and forth on a straight, wide path. It's fairly simple to do on most online-available tracks -- even more so because it's always 100cc online. My tip for those of you who haven't got it down yet is to try and get the red sparks as fast as you can. When I miss a boost, it's usually because I didn't get red sparks soon enough and I have to drift hard back on track or risk boosting right into a wall. Get those red sparks fast, go back and forth drifting continuously, and you've got it!

On Zero Suit Samus; update from the main site, for those of you who haven't seen it:

Quote
This isn't a pure character addition. Rather, under certain conditions, Samus will "remove" her Power Suit. Whoa! That's a woman under there!

Naturally, Zero Suit Samus loses power and stamina, so she should fight using the speed she gains instead.
Also, her gun transforms and can be used as a whip. Of the two, one might consider the whip to be her main weapon.

And don't worry—you'll still be able to play as standard Samus, too.

Awesome.

I was happy to hear about this. Reggie seems to be a pretty likeable guy, and I think Nintendo could use someone like that as their main man.

His chances of appearing in SSB:B are only going up!

He's got no chance whatsoever, but if Smithy showed up, I would pee my pants. I'll settle for Tatanga, though. :-)

I think it will be a strong multiplayer game, just like the Konga games were. Bongo Blast party, anyone?

It’s good to see the DK bongos haven’t been abandoned yet. This will probably be the last GameCube game I purchase, so needless to say I’m really excited. Should be a fun, innovative racer.

Any word on the release date for this beast? It still says "TBA" everywhere I look. Do you think it's implied that this game will be out in '06? Metroid, Zelda, and Mario all for launch would be a fanboy's dream.

Yeah, I thought of that after I posted. Let's just hope he's onboard for the rest of Brawl's soundtrack.

Now we know what Sakurai meant when he said he was thinking "outside the box".

Nobuo Uematsu? Could this mean an appearance from an N-Gen Final Fantasy character? Let's just hope he's behind the Brawl music, and that this wasn't just something he whipped up for the trailer.

General Chat / Re: New/Returning Members Post Here!
« on: May 09, 2006, 08:23:19 PM »
Hey there, I'm new here! Send me welcomes, and such!

I've been coming to TMK for years, but never bothered to join the forums. I figured with all this E3 news, it was finally time to bite the bullet. I've been a long-time member of a couple other forums, and I'm a mod at one, but I'd rather not advertise/boast about those right now. :-P

I'm enthralled by New Super Mario Bros. and this Mario Galaxy business, and am currently a hardcore DK Bongo junkie. Also, I am obsessed with everything Mario Kart and Zelda, and I have to have all the games and toys and stuff. (Mario Kart telephone, woot!)

So, uh... hiya!

I finally registered on the Fungi Forums just so I could talk about this game. I don't know what to say, except I'm crazy excited about it. My favorite franchise + my favorite genre = <3

I think the name sounds great, and I wouldn't mind if it stuck. It'll be interesting to see what kind of classic Mario enemies show up in this new environment.
