Have you both forgotten the good old days when this was how we finished conversations?

Sex is a complicated interaction between two people.  Some people don't always use their best judgment when approaching intercourse, and that can be frustrating.

Yes.  Also, it's unfair how women face persecution when they choose not to engage in sex.  It implies that women shouldn't be able to choose for themselves, and that's bad.

Exactly.  You both are reasonably intelligent!  Now let's go enjoy some tacos at a local eating establishment.

That article didn't make me rage.  The woman was pretty respectful for meeting his honesty with her own: that she wasn't looking to build a relationship out of their encounter, and that she would feel uncomfortable taking his virginity when the sex wouldn't have mattered to her as much as it would to him.  That's assuming that the man was looking to build a relationship out of their encounter.  He could have been looking to have (relatively) casual sex, but the author doesn't make it clear how serious the man was about seeing her.  I kind of wish they had at least communicated what the sex would have meant to each of them, since "virginity" doesn't automatically mean "doesn't want to casually do it."  Oh well.

What's interesting about that "top comment" quote is that the second clause describes what's wrong about rape.  When you force someone to have sex with you, you're taking away their agency and thinking for them and not letting them make decisions on their own.  Kind of ironic.

If anything, this article is reassuring because it didn't end with anyone coercing anyone else into doing something against their will/better judgment.  And 27 isn't that old, right?

Wouldn't it be worse if someone wanted to end a friendship and then didn't?  Their relationship would become a dishonest charade.  Even though it may be shallow to stop hanging out with someone because they turn you down, at least the person bailing out is being straightforward about their motives.

Not that this is referring to IAH's situation; this has reached Level Hypothetical.

So you have a crush on a woman, and this woman told you that your platonic, Catholic-raised, male friend is gay.  Did I solve the puzzle?

That Hepburn quote sounds like the starting point for this Sesame Street song:

Do you have mixed feelings about their gayness?  Does your crush's sexuality open up an opportunity, or erase one?

I miss the friends I made in college, and the convenience of hanging out when in college, but I don't miss being in college.  I didn't realize life after college entailed extra effort to find constructive things to do, and initiating hang outs with friends.  Before I could just sit in a classroom or club meeting and do all that.  Now I'm not limited to what's at school, but there's a whole world out there.  Not sure how I feel about that: excited, or wary.

There's this jazz standard that I think of from time to time, called What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life.  Listen to the first 52 seconds.

Whenever I hear it, I always think of Marble Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog:

Does this kind of bleedthrough ever happen to you, where you hear a song and immediately think of a video game piece?

Go ahead, all my other friends have. :P

As long as there's no Pat-Robertson-esque implication that I'm being punished by God.

I think I have strep throat.  It hurts to swallow, and cough drops aren't helping.  This really sucks.

I'm really sensitive to yeast, so I would have to pick neither.

If we're talking strange jarred substances we prefer, I'd go with molasses (it's really good on oatmeal).  Is chup sold in jars?

I lost my virginity on Saturday night.  I'm glad to have had the sexual experience, and yet I feel that it was so entirely out of character for me to engage in drunken sex with a friend.  We agreed the next morning that what happened could either stand on its own or be a building block toward something else.  I don't want it to build to something else.  He's ten years older than me and has a lot more experience, while I have never dated or been in a relationship before: therefore he would have a lot more power in the relationship and could easily manipulate me if he wanted.  I know better than to willingly enter into such a relationship.  I'll have to let him down easy very soon, as we're in the same Chorus together.  Not fun.

On the bright side, apparently I'm well-endowed!

If you don't have anything nice to say, then make sure you have something heavy to throw.
