Maybe people hate him because he is a stereotype of Italian people? Maybe they hate him because a family member has done something stupid over him?
Those are both extremely crappy reasons for someone to hate him. You would have to be extremely overly sensitive about ethnicity to hate the character because he's a comical stereotype. I can't imagine any Italian taking offense at that. And if a family member "did something stupid over him" (I can't imagine what you could possibly have in mind), hating the character himself is ridiculously irrational.
Maybe Mario haters technically have a right to their opinions, but their hatred of Mario is stupid and ridiculous all the same, and I have a right to be angry and look down on them for it.
Incidentally, I usually don't react as strongly to posts on this message board as I did earlier in this topic, but (1) I was in a bad mood yesterday when I made my last two posts, and (2) I absolutely cannot stand it when anyone defends Mario haters under any circumstances. Anti-Mario people are some of the most annoying people to me ever, and if someone defends them they are simply asking for it from me.
Also, the fact that I've been making somewhat heated replies to various posts by CreamCat (in other topics also) does not mean that I have something against this member personally. The fact is that a lot of the posts (s)he makes just happen to contain things with which I disagree, and I
am a rather irritable person by nature, so sometimes I reply in a somewhat heated way when I disagree with people, and other members of message boards are included among those people also. So, as I say, it has nothing to do with personal grudges.
