Author Topic: Mario never really talks  (Read 3717 times)

We all know games like PM:TTYD had a lot of text in it. But one problem is that Mario never had a speech bubble. It's like he only talks when he wins in Mario Party or die. Well he does talk but not in a full conversation.

Mario, Mario, He''s our man, If he can''t triple-jump and ground-pound, no one can!

He talks kind of a lot in Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

This is standard for the hero character in Japanese games.  See also Link in Zelda games. or many RPGs.  Now if they'd just get rid of the annoying yells that both Mario and Link do that seem to keep increasing recently...

I found it annoying that in Super Mario Sunshine they had his mouth move but he didn't say anything.  I guess they wanted the game to be like a Japanese movie...

He should talk more and say something besides Mamma Mia whenever he dies or gets injured.

VOTE FOR PEDRO!
I see poop.

Mario did scream, "Get me outta here!" Remember, in Luigi's Mansion? It's funny that in Mario games Luigi can talk, but Mario can't.

I kind of like that he never really talks.
Maybe there is more to me than there is to me...

"Mario did scream, "Get me outta here!" Remember, in Luigi's Mansion? It's funny that in Mario games Luigi can talk, but Mario can't."

More like:

"Hey Luigi........... what's the hold up?!" in a more or less sarcastic tone.

Talk is cheap.

Not sure how long I could listen to Mario talk.
I could see him being really annoying in conversation.

He speaks in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. He voice-overs his challenge letter. Now that's a Mario...... moment...... or something... where did that come from?!

Wow, I feel stupid.

Maybe Mario's vocabulary only consists of words like "Mamma Mia", etc.  Give the guy a break...

I found it hilarious in PM:TTYD when Goombella acknowledges the fact Mario never talks after she sees "Mario" chattering away.

"Ha! Ho! Hee! Wa! It's-a me! It's-a me! Mario! Wahahahahahahaha!"

"My spirit burns like the sun and I shall dry you like a prune."

I'm afraid Mario headbutted one too many ? Blocks, and now has pernament brain damage.

I''ve noticed something amongst some people''s signatures- they''re not always perfektt.
If my son could decimate Lego cities with his genitals, I'd be [darn] proud.
