Video Game Chat / Re: Capcom Crossover Character Content Controversy
« on: March 05, 2012, 06:16:22 AM »
Some DLC can be good. I like the old-fashioned idea of Expansion Packs for games like Quake or Half-Life, where it expands on the story, adds weapons, gives interesting new weapons or some sort of interesting gameplay experience. But these should be things to keep customers interested in the game after the release date, not just a way to make money. Sure, dressing Professor X up in a frilly french maid outfit might seem like a fun idea, but does it really warrant a paid release, much less one that's available from the very start? I think it's the fact that it's on disc that ensures it really is a total cash-grab, rather than legitimately wanting to enhance the gamer's experience. (And making money too, but that's another story).

Take Binding of Isaac for example. A brilliantly executed dungeon crawler (weird as hell, might I just add) indie game available on Steam, it has a buttload of items and randomly generated levels, along with fantastic updates, that will keep the user entertained for many hours. They've recently announced some paid DLC which promises to add 50% more content, including a new class of item, a new playable character, new enemies, a new final boss, and, most of all, some sense of finality to the story outlined in the original game. This is the sort of DLC that should be encouraged; something that really adds to the gamer's experience, and something that actually drives the game forward rather than acts as a vessel for making money.

It'll be a lot harder to move on if you keep thinking that. Trust me, I'm pretty much the same way, and 99% of the time it's your own head that'll stop you from moving forward. If you get rejected, fine. Go out and hang out with new people, take up a hobby, whatever. Just do something to keep yourself occupied, and happy, and eventually you'll find yourself over her.

Video Game Chat / Re: Things in need of Pokéfication
« on: February 06, 2012, 04:59:02 AM »
Going in kind of a different direction, I'd love to see Poison become a more useful type.  Some of my favorite Pokemon designs I'll never use (especially Trubbish/Garbodor, but also Muk/Grimer and Koffing/Weezing), because Poison is such a worthless type.  It's POISON, why wouldn't it be good against grass?  Or most living things

I can't speak for how the game is currently, but Weezing always was very good as a defensive 'Mon. Competitively speaking though.

I'd love to see some Pokemon based off some of the creatures in the southern hemisphere. Australia and New Zealand especially. There are some freaky animals in this neck of the woods, there's no reason why they can't be adapted. I'd use the heck out of a dropbear Pokemon.

Mario Chat / Re: So...Uh...Baby Waluigi?
« on: February 06, 2012, 12:23:19 AM »
Luigi is Wawaluigi.

Waluigi's name is a portmaneau of warui (meaning evil) and Luigi, making his name literally "evil Luigi" or "eviluigi". Wawaluigi then can't be Luigi, since he's not the evil evil Luigi. Or something.

Temperature's hovering around a pleasant 27-28°C at the moment, before heating up to the mid-30s on the weekend, then cooling down again for next week. Beats having a heat wave like we normally do in February.

I never understood that anyway. Even emulators support multiplayer on a non-native platform. Why is it that Nintendo have never thought to have some sort of module in the software that redirects Link Cable requests onto local Wi-Fi? It's fair enough that the DS didn't have it (hardware emulation and all), but, really, the 3DS is software emulated anyway, it probably wouldn't be that hard to fit in and it would definitely boost sales for Gameboy games. It's not as if they're making a profit on legacy systems anyway.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Most rhymes rhyme,
But this one doesn't.
