Just noticed this. Well, I would certainly download it. That's how I always get my music.

Not at the Dinner Table / Re: 360 versus PS3
« on: December 29, 2009, 01:11:13 PM »
I'm only interested in a few games that aren't on the Wii, and all of those games are on both the 360 and the PS3, so I got the 360 just because of the lower price and convenience since it's what most of my friends have.

Also worth mentioning is that I like how Sony doesn't keep rearranging the buttons and feel on their new controllers.
Hah, this reminds me of how the Xbox 360's four-button setup is different from the one Nintendo uses; A/B and X/Y are in opposite places. When I first got the 360, I had to get used to the different setup, because whenever I had to hit, for example, X, I'd instinctively hit Y instead. Eventually, I got used to it...and now it's messing me up in Yoshi's Island's balloon-throwing minigame. :P

Last night, I had a dream in which me and my family were apparently on vacation, dining in a restaurant that looked a lot like my Chemistry class, waiting for hours for our food. I can't remember all of the details, but I apparently got bored and decided to go on some kind of adventure in the nearby area, a part of which involved examining boxes in a library with other people. I saw one person hold a small box and warned them not to open it, since it might contain an explosive. They didn't believe me, however, and promptly opened the box...only to be destroyed in the ensuing explosion. Strangely, nothing else seemed to be harmed.

A couple of nights ago, as well, I had a dream

^ That is one strange dream. For some reason, I love the part where you said "...and made it look cooler as it burned"; it just feels so out of place in the otherwise surreal and...what's the word I'm looking for? Not stern, not serious...agh, just something. :P

A couple of nights ago, as well, I had a dream that involved being at a beach, and there were these big mounds of sand everywhere that looked like someone had decorated them with multicolored frosting in squiggly patterns. This actually gave me a new idea for an area in my Super Mario World hack.

Game Help / Re: Does it matter the order to play Paper Mario games?

...what is similar in the gameplay?  I fail to see any notable similarity.
The way the game is set up is similar; the game is divided into chapters where Mario collects a certain item and then returns to a hub area, and the HP/Attack/Defense system is similar (although not in RPG), with items, coins to spend, and all of that. It's essentially a platforming game in an RPG format.

I think you'll probably like Super Paper Mario if you liked the first two, since a lot of the non-gameplay aspects are similar (and quite a few details of the gameplay are similar, too). It isn't a true RPG like the first two, but that doesn't stop it from being a great game; personally, I think it's the second greatest Mario game ever created (my first is Galaxy). I would highly recommend it if you're playing the whole Paper Mario series.

There's even more references and in-jokes in Super Paper Mario, so you'd probably want to play it.

After reading about what you'd want to see in the next Mario title, I can't help but be strongly reminded of Sunshine.
Is that good or bad (or neither)? I wasn't thinking of Sunshine when I posted that, but I do like Sunshine. Not as much as 64 and Galaxy, but still quite a lot. I was just playing it again recently, actually...I only stopped because I had to work on a project for a contest at another website. I should pick it up again.

By "gimmicks", I'm not talking about stuff like FLUDD; I'm referring to devices in levels like the arrow platforms from Yoshi's Island, mushroom blocks from SMB2, etc.

Additionally, Mario and Sonic's newfound friendly sporting rivalry has toppled their respective companies' longstanding mutual hatred for each other, which is an awful thing to do.
Why? I don't see how getting rid of hate in any form is a bad thing...

As for 2D Mario Platformers, I haven't played New SMB Wii yet, but the general vibe I'm getting from those who have is that it's a great game, but still very "been there, done that". I think a new 2D platformer with some real new elements thrown in would be great - more emphasis on puzzle-solving and gimmicks, a new graphic style, a new story, a unique and different setting, plausible cutscenes, etc...anything like these could spice up the next Mario platformer, at least the way I would see it.

Mario's Keytastrophe

Heh.

I guess you could say that. It depends on your definition of "midboss", though.
