Nintendo fans and gaming historians alike have long contemplated the details of Mario's origins. It has become common knowledge that the character's namesake is real estate developer and former landlord Mario Segale (often misspelled as "Segali"), who owned Nintendo of America's head office in the early '80s. Earlier last year, author/tech-nerd Benj Edwards managed to procure an old photograph of the elusive Segale (attached below), as well as some information regarding the man. Wow, finally. After years of constantly name-dropping this guy with absolutely no other information, we can finally confirm that Mario Segale did indeed exist.

Wow...that smile gives me the "Super Mario" vibe...but I sure didn't expect him to look like that! @_@
