Hey!  Luigio's my character!  I made him up!  The other guys can tell you!  That's weird!  By the way, I'm Mario Master.  I think Mario killed King Koopa in SMB3, so like, King Koopa's brother, Bowser, took over.
Yoshi likes to dance in his backwards saddle!

Koopa is Bowser's Japanese name.
In every game he's appeared in, his name has been Bowser.
This includes SMB, SMB3 and all subsequent games.

I always thought the reason why he was never called Bowser in some of the cartoons, the movie, and a few other things, had to do with copyrights.

His kids had different names in the SMB3 cartoons.

I do think the name "Bowser" slipped a few times in some of those cartoons though.

I don't know, I could be way off.

As mentioned, his name was Bowser in SMB.  I remember I misread his name and called him "Bosser"...

You're probably right about the copyrights. But then, I might not know what I'm talking about either.

KIng Koopa, Bowser.  Bowser is a cool name for a overgrown deranged turtle.  King Koopa was probably just a reminder that he was the king until the Mario Brothers beat the crap out of him.  They should have called him King Bowser Koopa.

Mariomania is still running wild! Whatcha gonna do Bowser, When Mario runs wild on you!

Jman, you need to get some facts straight.

King Bowser Koopa: American name
King Koopa Koopa: his Japanese name

Oh, okay.  Wait a minute! King Koopa Koopa? I know it's his Japanese and cartoon name, but it just sounds stupid! Oh, that's right. They call him Koopa in Japan, and his last name IS Koopa.

It's like this:

King Koopa in Japan
Bowser in US.
In US, he's also called King Bowser and King of the Koopas.  Therefore,
Full title: King Bowser Koopa.

They simply call him by his last name, just like they call Peach only by her first name:
Peach in Jap.
Princess Toadstool in US, but also Princess Peach.
Solution?  Princess Peach Toadstool.

Eh, that was completely unnessesary to go thru all that explaining, wasn't it? Oh well...
