General Chat / Petals Around the Rose
« on: June 14, 2004, 03:21:23 PM »
Good luck figuring out this doozy.

Petals Around the Rose.

Newcomers to the game can be told three things:

  1. The name of the game is important
  2. Every answer will be an even number
  3. They can also be told the answer for every dice throw.

GIVING AWAY SOLUTION = BAN.

What displays in your mind when you see other people's nicknames?

For example, whenever I see "Meowrik" I think of Meowth from Pokémon, and when I see "TEM" I think "Tehm" (the sound of saying TEM in my head). Oh, and "frostbite" used to trigger memories of Flurries from Mario 2. Can you tell I play video games too much?

Mario Chat / Mario: Still Nintendo's biggest franchise
« on: June 02, 2004, 08:35:08 PM »

http://cube.ign.com/articles/519/519932p1.html

As part of its recent year-end financial report, Nintendo revealed cumulative sales totals for its major series, and the numbers for the world's most popular plumber are staggering. Across a total of nineteen titles, the Super Mario Brothers series has managed worldwide sales of 174 million units. This figure works out to 54 million units across nine portable titles and 120 million units across 10 home titles.

Pokemon comes in second at 91 million units, a figure which Nintendo arrives at from the franchise's eleven portable titles. Apparently, the company has chosen to not include sales from the series' console counterparts (which, admittedly, don't amount to much compared to sales on the Game Boy systems).

Donkey Kong beats out Zelda for third place with 43 million units, split across 28 million via ten home titles and 15 million via seven portable titles. Zelda comes in at 42 million units, with seven home titles accounting for 30 million units and five portable titles accounting for 12 million units.

Of course, just looking at sales in the present, nothing stops Pokemon. For last year, Pokemon Ruby & Saphire on Game Boy Advance managed worldwide sales of 6.12 million units, bringing the game's worldwide total to a staggering 12.78 million units. Zelda: Wind Waker managed sales of 1.31 million units last year, brining its total to 3.33 million. Mario Advance 4, Mario Party 5 and Mario Kart Double Dash all saw release last year and managed total sales of, respectively, 2.59 million, 1.64 million and 3.58 million units.

MB came across this site with a couple really nice Mario PC clones. They are really well-done but I can't stand the way Mario controls.

If you have the necessary equipment, send me an e-mail and I'll provide more intructions.

Thanks.

General Chat / What's on your sub?
« on: February 24, 2004, 03:51:43 PM »
That awesomely cool new Quizno's commercial got me thinking: Sub sandwiches are good.

My favorite is turkey and ham with mozzarella cheese, lettuce, and easy salt/pepper/mayo. From Subway. I don't think there's a Quizno's anywhere around here. :-\

MarioMasterDX: What exactly is the deal with this bug? Is the way I explained it on http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk/smbdx_bugs.shtml correct (except that I don't mention turning off the GBC...)?
Or, will the glitch also appear if you get all the Yoshi Eggs before you get all of the Red Coins and Score awards?

(I don't have SMBDX... yet. :)

Site Discussion / WTMK - requests?
« on: November 10, 2003, 11:03:46 PM »
1) The subject of requesting songs for WTMK came up in the chatroom, and I thought this would be the best place to hear what people want to hear on WTMK.

2) I have Mario Golf (N64 and GC) music ready. But, because Nintendo didn't release any soundtracks, the music is recorded from the game, which means the bird-chirping and other background sound effects are present. My question to you, is, would the SFX be too distracting, or should I go ahead and put up the Mario Golf music already? (There is one track up with sound effects, if you've heard it you know what I mean.)

All the spam and e-mail worms have finally gotten to me; I changed the TMK contact e-mail. You can find it on the contact us page.

BTW, how about that new worm, eh? Quote:
When the .pif or .scr attachment is opened, Sobig.F infects the computer and sends itself on to other victims using a random e-mail address from the address book.

Worms like this will also forge the "sender" e-mail addresses using entries from victim's address books, so the possibility is high that you'll get e-mail from "me" or other innocent parties that weren't infected.

In summation, please don't add our new e-mail address to your address books.

Well, that's it.

Site Discussion / Introducing your Fungi Forums moderators
« on: August 01, 2003, 01:36:50 AM »
You may have noticed that I have assigned moderators to each section of the forums. If you missed it, they are:

Sapphira - General Mario Chat

Watoad - Game help

Chupperson Weird - Site Discussion

Insane Steve - General Chat

TBA - Story Boards

Congratulations to each on his or her promotion to moderator status.

Before I go any further, I want to mention that just because we didn't choose you doesn't mean we like the users chosen more than you. Because the message board program only lets me assign one moderator per forum, in the end there were more people that I wanted to be moderators than total sections to moderate.

Hopefully, giving "power to the people" will help neutralize spam and obscene topics/posts if I am unavailable for any reason.

Please be kind to the mods, and please do not ask us to make you a mod.

That's it, good luck guys!

***Revised 8/9/2003:
