Site Discussion / Re: Questions
« on: January 06, 2013, 02:00:37 AM »
Fan fiction would go in Fan Creations. Fan Creations is for anything you create, like art, stories, poetry, music, animation, flash games, etc.

Forum Games can include stories, if they're something anyone can participate in, such as "one sentence story" and the like. Forum Games is geared for more meme-like topics and fun little things where anyone contributes. I guess it could be considered as having less "quality" content. (Posts in Forum Games don't count toward one's post count, if that says anything.)

When the Fan Creations board was added, depending on the content, topics that used to be in the Story Boards and later Forum Games and Stories were sifted through and sorted according to whether they belonged in Fan Creations or Forum Games. I imagine some may have been missed, but they can always be moved to a different board later if someone notices a misplaced topic.

Lost hard.
I mean, wow, this is a concept I teach my preschoolers.

Those are the same question. Topics and threads are synonyms.

If you want to make links better looking, you can type this:

Code: [Select]
[url=PasteURLHere]Text you want linked[/url]
Or, basically, type the text you want the link to say, highlight said text, then click "Insert Hyperlink" button , and it'll add the BBCode around it. All you have to do then is where it says "url" in brackets, add = and paste the URL. No spaces.

If in one of your questions, you mean how do you link to a specific post in a thread, first click the anchor on that post. Copy the URL.

Edit: Okay, you edited your question, so...
2) Type what you want as spoilers. Highlight said text. Click "Spoiler Text" button or type:
Code: [Select]
[spoiler]Text[/spoiler] That's it.

Here's some info that might be helpful:

Returning Members of 2012: (Note: dates are the month and year of these members' last posts before they returned, in Month/Year format. "Blast" means they only posted a handful of times within that period, "legit" means when they were last truly active. I only looked in the New/Returning Members thread, so I may have missed some members.)

TheMightyThor joined/started posting at the tail-end of 2011 (12/13), so he may or may not qualify. Never mind. He's actually coolkid.

Sapphira's Votes:

Poster of the Year: CrossEyed7
Post of the Year: Hmm... Well, I'd have to say this post because it linked an article that resulted in me re-examining/shifting my perspective. Which I suppose is pretty life-changing. But I suppose, as far as actual content goes, this post covers those ideas the best.
Topic of the Year: Sexual Orientation. Probably the only thread created this year that held my interest and sparked both the most intellectual and personal (i.e. meaningful) conversations. Not to mention, for the most part, everyone's handled the controversial topic respectfully and maturely. Yeah, I may have created it, but everyone else helped sustain it and made it what it is.
Image of the Year: A Winner Is Kuromatsu
Sig of the Year: Toad's: "I understand that [Toad] has some popularity. Somehow." ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
Song of the Year: "Waluigi's Island (a capella)" by Fifth (and teh_yoshi from the chatroom). It's so creepy and awesome at the same time!
Deezer Award: dezzer

Funniest Poster: Huh. Tough one. I guess maybe CrossEyed. I can't really think of anyone else who's said/posted funny stuff (in 2012). Which is actually kind of sad.
Most Creative Poster: Qwerty
Smartest Poster: CrossEyed7, although Markio has a lot of wisdom.
Most Amiable Poster: Markio

Best Newbie: Glowsquid (he's more active in the chatroom), Godot
Blast from the Past: Markio, by far the most active, quality-contributing returning member. And he's also been gone for 4 years!
Most Missed: Watoad. Also Black Mage.
Most Improved: TheMightyThor (AKA coolkid)

Most Mario-Wise Poster: CrossEyed7, The Chef
Meowiest Poster:
Queen of Posters: Let's go with BP or The Chef. Naw, Markio for teh funnehz.
King of Posters: Sapphira. Voting for myself if only for the irony.
WTD Award: TheColonelKR

Retro Awards
Dynamic Duo: The Chef & TheColonelKR
Best Custom Title: Ogres Have Layers - "Malaprop Monster"
Most Creepiest: [Man, that grammar bugs me.] Hello:)
Best Name: Ym9iYnlzcTEzMzc equalsign

Jeez, CrossEyed and Markio. Way to dominate the awards. :P

Colonel, there's no need to get so upset and defensive. I detect no hostility from The Chef. I ask the same of you. I would hope that you had learned that by now. He's not out to get you, and I suggest you not be out to get him.

As an asexual, I dismissively stereotype all members of both sexes, too.

Until you befriend an actual woman, at which point you realize that they are also people and come in just as many flavors as any other group of people.
Yes. I often find myself saying something similar about guys to my female friends.

But we can't be friends with women, duh. Not unless they have sex with us.
That's why PaperLuigi has no female friends. ;)

Also, by that logic I would have no male friends. But I do. Explain. :P

Fan Creations / Re: Self-Portraits
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:55:46 PM »
I want to say this was done in pencil. From 2006, I believe. Click for full-size image.

Not sure how I really feel about this self-portrait. It's the first one I did using a mirror for reference instead of a photograph. Meh.
Sorry the photo quality isn't great (it's apparent in full size). I think it looks better in real life. One of these days I'll have to retake the photo of it. The piece is too big to scan.

And, of course, there's this, done in Paint (in 2003, I think?):

Not sure if this exactly counts, but Paper Mario version of me (2006?):

Aww, I'm sorry about your dog, BP.

NOTE: I split the conversation regarding TheColonelKR's closed thread into its own spin-off topic.

Sorry, Markio, that part of your post moved and lost some coherency in the split. For posterity, here's what it said:

I saw Wreck-It Ralph and I loved it.  Yet it gave me angst and I've been feeling really sad today.

Not at the Dinner Table / Re: Sexual Orientation
« on: November 17, 2012, 03:55:28 PM »
CrossEyed, you scored a 4 on the Femininity axis. I got 4.3, BriGuy got 4.5. You scored lower on the Masculinity axis (1.7), though, whereas BriGuy and I are scored higher on them (3.5 and 3, respectively.) That puts you more centered the "Feminine" range, but not more feminine. Or something.

Markio and BriGuy got the highest scores under Masculinity (3.5 and 3.2). I'm next with 3. I guess that makes us more "Masculine," but none of us fall under the "Masculine" range, because we also scored high on Femininity.

Poor Fifth, all alone. XD

From the looks of the questions, I would guess the test is actually measuring personality traits more so than "gender roles," and just using stereotypes or something. Seems like "feminine" traits are more what someone who has a strong "Feeling" preference would be, with "masculine" traits more under the "Thinking" preference. And also, going by the Big Five (OCEAN) personality, someone who'd score high on "Agreeableness" would probably score higher on "Feminine," and someone higher on maybe "Extraversion" traits and/or "Openness" would probably score higher on "Masculine." So basically, if you're both a Feeler and Agreeable, I'm guessing you'd score as "Feminine."

I'm a Thinking preference with a well-developed Feeling side, who also scores high on Agreeableness. I'm also somewhere between Introverted and "Ambiverted," and somewhere in the middle of "Openness" (depends on what, exactly, that means, which varies). So that probably explains my results.

Although, possibly another way of looking at it is how likely are you to "wear the pants" in a relationship. I dunno. XD
