The central town of Isle Delfino, Delfino Plaza, will be a battleground in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. The stage will have you flying above the island at first, and then landing to provide a traditional setting. This pattern repeats around the island to allow gamers to soak in some beautiful scenery! Check out the official site for screenshots and information!

<Kojinka> When I saw this thread back on top, I was afraid this was gonna be another pointless bump by a new member, but when I saw Super-Jesse's username, my fears were laid to rest.

I knew some Mario Sunshine elements would get into the game, but I didn't expect for it to become a stage. Looks like it works eaxactly like the Mute City stage from Melee.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

So the stages are getting bigger and more detailed this time around. This actually resembles my idea where you have a big 3D area and can choose which part of the stage the 2D fighting goes on in, except that you can't choose and you're riding a moving platform most of the the time.

Where are the Piantas?

I'd stay indoors if a group of people were duking it out with rocket lauchers and firewalls.

Wonderful, just when we thought that the SMSu theme was finally slowing down...
I typed that before seeing it! It actually looks great! I like how accuracy is taken into account here, like how Peach Beach had the Grand Pianta statue in Double Dash, but so did Delfino Square in Mario Kart DS... But yeah if an enraged group of video game characters came to fly around my house and beat each other up I'd hide inside, watch from the window... and get Mario's autograph after he wins... unless he loses.

I just had kind of a neat idea for the stage.. what if the Chucksters (Piantas that threw you) came onto the stage sometimes and, well, chucked ya! Wouldn't that be neat?

Yes, yes! And maybe, with enough hits, you can send them flying out of the stage yourself! Like some pokemon like Chansey!

Hopefully not. Though it is extremely likely he will, since they are using Delfino plaza. I wonder if Shadow Mario/Bowwer Jr will too?

Huh, does anyone else notice a theme of stages taking place on a floating platform that watches the sencery from afar? The Halbred stage is doing that, too.

Well, at least it'll occasionally land on certain parts of the plaza for you to brawl in.

They've made a pretty acurate map of Delfino Plaza, right down to the smallest milimeter. Good job on their part.

Well, isn't it possible to copy the plaza from SMSu, refine the 3-D objects and improve the textures? Sounds fastest...

"Meh" is what I said when I saw the new stage. I'd like to see some new characters before I get too hyped up.

No offence to you Super-Jesse, it's wonderful that you're providing good info about the game.

When I was listing areas that I'd like to see become Smash Bros. stages, Delfino Plaza was included.  Then again, it seemed fairly inevitable.

I'm neutral towards Piantas except in one regard -- I LOOOOOVE the Chucksters. I wet myself with glee when I got chucked in Mario Party 8.

I don't know... this is a cool stage, I guess; I just hope there aren't a ton more like it (let's see... make a 3D-scape, have a platform fly around it... Oh, look, we're done! Okay, onto the next one).

And hopefully it'll have something more other than flying around it. Besides the goop (which could vary since SMSu has numerous types), what other gimicks/hazards would Delfino Plaza have on its players?

Throwable fruit stuff! You could pick them up from stands and chuck them at your enemies! The would be pretty sweet, diffrent fruit could cause difffrent amounts of damage, if Yoshi ate one, he'd change color for a short time! Wouldn't do anything special though. Maybe his B  button attack would be to spit out juice! No sure about Kirby...

They does? When was there spontaneously combusting Piantas?
Maybe at the parts with the beach you'll be able to swim. Seemed really really strange how the water in Great Bay didn't affect gravity's effect on the players, and even stranger considering that a BOULDER was floating in the water and wouldn't sink even if four giant metal Bowsers somehow stood on it.

If there ever was a spontaneously combusting Pianta, I'd be very happy. Piantas are the most disgusting, selfish creatures in the Mario universe. They care nothing for Mario even though it's clear as day the imposter looked nothing like him. But I guess that just shows how pathetically stupid they are.

*ahem* Anyway, the new stage I really want to see might be along the lines of a haunted mansion type thing that coincides with (da, da, da da) Luigi's Mansion. Ghosts flyin' around with E. Gadd in the back causing unintentional havoc would be just plain sweet.

That's kinda what I was thinking, I'd love to see the smashers duke it out on the roof of Luigi's mansion.  Boos would occasionally hover around wreaking havoc, and sometimes, Bowser's head would float around spitting fireballs at the combatants.

I don't care for piantas either and would love to see one spontaneously combust. I guess the closest thing would be the ones that are on fire for some odd reason. I can't help but wonder if they just have really bad eyesight though. Whatever. At least the nokis are nice.

And yes. A Luigi's Mansion stage would be neat.

Nobody remembers the piantas that ran around on fire waiting to be put out? (Apparently they didn't teach, stop drop and roll, on delfino.) Then they'd say "mahk mahna ha hana!" and give you a blue coin or something.

Oh yeah, that one. I wish he burned or something. Mabey my hatered towards the Piantas is a little unhealthy.

Nah, not really. I'll rip on them every chance I get. Not only were they lazy and expected Mario to do everything for them as if he were a slave, they were all generally rude to Mario even when he had the island fixed (but he was still "guilty").

ok so they should scratch the mario kart stage they have right now and make and rainbow road version where it takes you along through the stage. Through all the loops and stuff. They could make some great scenery with that as well. I dunno, it's just what I want to see.

I must say, this stage looks quite good. It's bright, looks fun to play in, and fits in perfectly with Mario's overall happy atmosphere. However, I'm still waiting for a Bowser's Castle stage of some sort...
