Mario Chat / Re: Waluigi

It took about four systems before Nintendo decided to put Luigi in a solo game, so I'd say Waluigi will star in his own game in... the year 5128.

Mario Chat / Re: Favorite Mario Tennis moments
« on: May 30, 2001, 08:28:33 AM »
I'd say my favorite moments have to do with Mario. Whenever he misses a ball, I crack up when I hear him say ''Ouch!'' two times. Also, that motion he makes when he loses a match seems to emphasize for me that I've won a match against him.

And of course, who could forget that motion Luigi makes when he loses a match? Luigi is SUCH a sore loser.

And there was that one match versus Baby Mario where I was having a hard time keeping up. Anyway, he was setting up for another power shot, and I thought I'd lose the point again. But instead the ball jumped over his head, so I got the point instead.

I also crack up when someone double faults.

Finally, I just burst out laughing that one time where I was in a doubles match with Bowser and Boo as opponents. Bowser serves the ball, but it whacks Boo in the back of his head instead. You'd think that a ball flying at 100+mph into your head would hurt.

I don't think there's any chance of them ever coming back (kind of like, sadly, the Koopa Kids), but I sure liked them.

I liked Kooper the most for some reason. Maybe it was that red scarf thing or something. But he just looked cute at first, so I'm kinda sad that I won't see Kooper anymore.

I knew your signature looked familiar, Hinopio. That's from Galaxy Quest, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

My other favorite moments in the movie was when the crew goes aboard the ship and that one guy (called Guy) does a long scream. But my favorite moment was when the ship scraped against the edge of that structure just as they were moving out.

Mario Chat / Re: E3 (don't get your hopes up, I didn't go)
« on: May 25, 2001, 03:25:26 PM »
I heard from some article that emphasizes on how badly the X-Box showing was:

''As for the Xbox hardware, Kutaragi dismisses it as ''disappointing''. The console isn't fast enough and its graphics are ''rough''. The demo machine's crash at the E3 show last week suggests he may have a point.''

OUCH! Something as grand as an E3 showing, and on a demo machine, crashing?! That's got to be embarrassing.
Meanwhile, Nintendo easily wowed visitors. I think I know who's gonna get the lead early on in the console wars... here's another quote from some sort of interview from the head guy at Silicon Knights Ltd (the guys responsible for Eternal Darkness):

''A bunch of people go throughout the demo of the specs and the layout. They were in utter shock. I can't believe this, it is so good.''

If you want, I'll get a sound confirming this. But of course, you don't need one.

Mario Chat / Re: Super Smash Brothers 2

Here's some interesting pictures I captured from the Smash Bros. videos and put up on my site:

http://www.angelfire.com/home/kooperyoshi/bowsah.jpg

This link above shows off that those game creators really knew how to add detail to Bowser. What I'm mainly referring to is the "bulge" on Bowser's chest (I know what it is, but I don't think the forums would let me say it). But hey, I noticed it, so I decided to put it here. The bulge has been there in the past, but this is the first time it is truly noticable.

http://www.angelfire.com/home/kooperyoshi/bowsah2.jpg

I always knew Bowser was cute in one way or another, but this pic really seems to hit home. There's just something about his face.

http://www.angelfire.com/home/kooperyoshi/yoshi.jpg

If anything, check out this photo. It's a HUGE graphical mistake, and it was part in an E3 video! You'd think they wouldn't allow a mistake like THIS to pass them by, but I guess now we know better.
It shows Yoshi jumping, and you can see his shadow on the paper background. One problem: part of the shadow is clipped when it clearly shouldn't, making it look like the shadow of Yoshi's head look like it was cut in half. You simply must see it to believe it.

Tell me what you think of these pics, even although they had no point.

Even more Smash Bros. 2 info:

I don't think all the characters from the original will return. From what we've seen, there's no word on Luigi or Jigglypuff returning. But then again, they might be secret characters...

Chances of Dino Riki popping up in the game: 0%.

No word yet on Kid Icarus. If anything, a secret character.

There seems to be some one-player "adventure" mode. I'm assuming the way it works is that it's like a very big bonus stage. Except that there's actually color in them :) , you're likely to go up against more of your foes as you go along your trek, and it being an adventure won't make it any easier than a regular mode.

I've heard how a special tournament mode will pit you with up to 64 other combatants. Probably the Polygon Team again, but think for a sec. They might be several characters with different suits.

No word on if we'll see Mario in the Wario clothing again.

In fact, no new suits have been shown!

A lot of detail has gone into Bowser. Check out one of the FMV shots to see what I mean. And he still has that wacky red hair of his...

Mario has REALLY changed. Look at his overalls, and you can clearly see the denim texture (awesome!). Plus, this MUST be the "new" mature Mario. Look at him, he's SLIM! He also looks taller (!), and there's something else about him that looks different.

Samus obviously received the most applause in a recent E3 video.

Some new screenshots and videos of the adventure mode do show that there will be Koopas, Goombas, seals (of the Ice Climber universe), and more.

In one E3 video, for the intro, they showed off the beginning of a tempting Mario vs. Link match. It's obvious that Nintendo sees this as one of the greatest matchups, so it's only fitting that for the intro, we see Mario and Link looking at eachother, in fighting stance. And then this magical moment ends just as Mario makes the first punch...

We're all hyped up for it now more than ever.

Ok, so I didn't manage to get one from the intro (because I didn't download it!). But I have a good Doomship pic. Go to

http://www.angelfire.com/home/kooperyoshi/doomship.jpg

And for the detailed facts about it:
It's 251 pixels width and 188 pixels height.
And it's 7.85 kb.

It's slightly edited from the original version for a few reasons: first, the original image was twice this size (ouch). Second, there were some ugly TV edge markings and such, so I got rid of 'em. And third, it was originally around 100kb.

That should satisfy your doomship cravings. By the way, why do you need it? If you have a website that you're gonna put it on, I'd like to hear about where I can find your site, cause anything with a doomship is worth going to.

I've gotten ahold of another Smash Bros. video, and you can hear the audience in the background. Here's the characters they showed in order, as well as the audience response and my comments:

Mario: Well of course he appears first. A lot of people cheered for him. Apparently Mario will have his cape in this Smash Bros. too.

Peach: You could hear some applause, but it was very faint just like with the rest of the movie. Guess they didn't focus on audience audio.

Yoshi: I thought I could hear some applause, and Yoshi is looking good, but I did notice a big glitch in his shadow once.

Kirby: You can hear one person going "Whoo!" Guess people like Kirby.

DK: I couldn't hear any audience cheers.

Ness: It's obvious that some people cheered for Ness. It's not as strong as I would have hoped, however.

Bowser: Faint applause.

Captain Falcon: Not sure.

Fox: Almost no applause. But Fox made some mean fighting noises.

Samus: No duh! Samus easily gained the MOST applause. It was also noticably louder than that given for Mario!

Pikachu: No applause, hehe.

Link: Some audible applause.

Shiek (I guess this will be final name): Faint applause. I wonder why...

Ice Climber: Some applause. Certainly more than given for Shiek.

And strangely, the crowd applauded loudest for the beginning and ending of the movie.

Tell me what you think. I think the audio should have been more focused on audience, cause I'm sure someone clapped for Captain Falcon and others.

I'll get some sounds of the applaud rates on my site soon.

Video Game Chat / Re: Nintendo GameCube or Game Boy Advance?

Maybe I should start a topic on what games people wish they could play on their GameCube. Anyone out there wish they could play a Secret of Mana Cube?

You know what's really sad? It looks like the DVD version will have a slick silver color to it. I bet that if anything, they will come out with that color for the Cube soon.

I'm telling ya, I'm so not gonna get a "lavendar" (yeah right) Cube when it comes out if there's other colors. I'll head straight for the metallic silver. Metallic is cool...

btw, what the heck is up with the low-res Eternal Darkness movie at IGN.com? For 51MB, I would have expected more than an NES-era three-second movie ;) . The Wave Race preview, for instance, was amazing, and that was only 15MB.

Tell me if you can find any hi-res movies of Eternal Darkness. And I have 56k, so I'm NOT gonna download any 50MB files ever again (unless it's for Nintendo Game4dDecagon, of course ;) ).

Game Help / Re: Yoshi's Story help...
« on: May 23, 2001, 05:54:48 PM »
The only thing tough about Yoshi's Story is being able to handle the "most annoying song in the world" every time you finish a level and it tells its stupid happy-happy short story.

But for all you unfortunate Yoshi's Story owners out there, here's a REAL easy way to make the game hard for you:

Get all 30 melons in every stage.

Without using the Player's Guide (you probably don't have one, but after you realize how tough this goal is, you'll be wanting one).

It's tough even with the guide!

Recently on a poll for the gamecube games everybody is most looking forward to at Nintendojo, here's the results for when I checked them:

1. Smash Bros. Melee (522 votes)
2. Rogue Squadron 2 (372 votes)
3. Eternal Darkness (192 votes)
4. Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet (190 votes)
5. Luigi's Mansion (173 votes)
6. Wave Race: Blue Storm (149 votes)
7. Pikmim (148 votes)

Now, we knew Smash Bros. Melee would take top honor and Pikmin would be last. But why is Wave Race in 6th, beating out Pikmin by one vote? Why is Rogue Squadron way ahead of Eternal Darkness? I guess that's how the guys at Nintendojo really feel...

Man, I haven't been around long enough to remember any of these people!

But I do remember talking to those people you mentioned. Kind of. Only recently.

And I seem to remember your name. You were around here recently...

Do you think I have a chance at getting on your list sometime next month or something?
