Sales data taken from www.nintelligent.net

Tuesday, June 1 2004 - Nintendo has released some official sales figures for their major software titles of 2003, and without further ado, here they are, listed as:

Game title / System / Total sales worldwide in 2003 / Total Sales Worldwide Overall.

Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire / GameBoy Advance / 6.12 million / 12.78 million
Mario Advance 4:SMB 3 / GameBoy Advance / 2.59 millions / 2.59 million
Mario Kart Double Dash!! / GameCube / 3.58 million / 3.58 million
Mario Party 5 / GameCube / 1.64 million / 1.64 million
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker / GameCube / 1.31 million / 3.33 million

Nintendo has also reveled all-time sales figures for some of their most popular franchises. It would appear that Nintendo does not consider any of the Pokemon side games for the GC or N64 to be official parts of the series; at least the sales are not included as such.

Super Mario series
Handheld: 9 titles, 54 million copies
Console: 10 titles, 102 million copies
Total: 174 million copies

Legend of Zelda series
Handheld: 5 titles, 12 million copies
Console: 7 titles, 30 million copies
Total: 42 million copies

Donkey Kong series
Handheld: 7 titles, 15 million copies
Console: 10 titles, 28 million copies
Total: 43 million copies

Pokemon series
Handheld: 11 titles, 91 million copies

Wow, this is very impressive! It proves that Nintendo games are still quite popular!

I wonder why the Metroid games aren't listed...

LONG LIVE NINTENDO!

People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

I have never played an Xbox and don't plan on ever buying one.

Big numbers.  I'm not surprised at that, though.  What I'm surprised at is that despite the fact that both the Donkey Kong and Legend of Zelda series are older than Pokemon and that they carry more games, and Pokemon beats them by a long shot.
Well, 174 million sales for Mario!  Woohoo!
