Mario Chat / Re: Paper Mario
« on: November 08, 2002, 11:04:03 PM »
I played Paper Mario as a rental, I rented it twice for a total of 6 days of play. I had strep throat and was home from school, so I had nothing to do but play PM and sleep. I beat it as fast as I could because I wanted to get to Bowser. It was pretty good, yeah. I like Bow and Parakarry and Watt. And the Shyguys were cute and I felt bad hurting them, even though they kinda started it. But I'm still bitter that the supposed SMRPG sequel made Bowser not only evil, but mind-numbingly dumb. Not kewl.

The happiest day of my gaming life was easily the day I first beat SMRPG. I was 11 or 12, and I was playing in the morning and left late for school to complete it. I was soooo happy that day. Also a very memorable time was the first time I beat Sunshine. Boy, did I get emotional. Oh, and then there's the many hilarious Bowser vs. Sheik SSBM battles with a friend of mine. We yell at each other during it, super-fun.

I've never been a Mario character, although I have gone out as Pikachu, Duplica and Lillymon (from Pokémon, Pokémon and Digimon, respectively). Maybe next year I could go as Wendy O., that'd be kinda kewl. Peach would be good too, despite my hatred of the colour pink, it'd be fun to squeak "Suh-WEET!" and watch all the SSBM players cringe. Maybe I could arrange for someone to kidnap me...It'd be a great stunt. I was told about some guys who used to go to my school who staged an elaborate public Star Wars ripoff, and I've been jealous ever since. If I had more time, I'd do it this year, but I'm already going out as Carmen Miranda. Yes, definately next year.

Oh...Well, I guess it's not that hard to mimic Kirby, really...

Wow, almost 600 voices...Now THAT's talent. It'd be nice to see more people like that voicing anime, especially dubs, which tend to need all the help they can get.

Hmm, I did most of the toys and stuff when I was younger, but don't have them anymore...

-Wrote a walkthru for SMRPG, it's over 80 pages long.
-Watched the SMB movie twice and wrote a very detailed summary for those who can't watch it.
-Have told most of my IRL friends that I think Mario and Bowser would make a cute couple (AND they all still talk to me!)
-Run and write lots of material for a fansite.

That's all I can think of at the moment. You're all still in shock-horror at the Mario/Bowser thing, aren't ya? ^_^

Hey, don't shoot the messenger...I'm surprised my pal doesn't know that, he's played the Parties more than me. And to my knowledge there's no real evidence of a Luigi/Daisy relationship. They don't really interact in the sports games or Parties, and MIM shouldn't be held against anyone. The only evidence I can think of is Daisy's SSBM trophy, which doesn't hint at a pairing so much as state that some people think the pairing exists.

Yeah, Kamek's pretty kewl. I like anyone associated with Bowser, so yeah. ^_^ I like how Kamek calls Yoshi a "cutie without a navel", who else thinks he was hitting on Yoshi? Errr, gonna shut up now...*cough*

Pikmin's also a good game to try. Don't buy it, just rent it. It's good but I imagine it gets old after a while. Oh, and definately get Super Smash Brothers Melee! Especially if you have friends who might like to play games with you, Smash is the party game to end all party games.

I don't wake up on Saturday at 9 AM for love nor money. I do, however, wake up that early for Kirby. I don't have a working VCR, and Fox's morning line-up prevents it from being a total waste.

What I'm happiest with is Kirby's voice actor. I guess they got the same actor who did SSB/M, because he sounds just as squeaky and cute as ever. That was my biggest hope for the series, that Kirby didn't get a sucky voice. He doesn't speak more than a few words and communicates mostly with little squeaky sounds, which is suiting because his character in the anime is basially a baby. King Dedede has a Texan accent (not forced enough to be annoying, which is rare in anime dubbing), and if I had to guess at Meta Knight's accent I'd probably say Japanese. Meta rocks. And Rick the hamster is Aussie, complete with all the catch phrases. Yeah, I've got a thing for appropriate voice acting. Admitting that you have a problem is the first step.

Well, a return to flight-sim wouldn't be a downgrade in gameplay so much as a downgrade in plot. How can you have a plot when all you do is shoot stuff? And what would the point of a new Starfox flight-sim game be, anyways? Killing Andross yet again? Puhlease. Bowser and Ganondorf fill the Villain Who Never Ever Stays Dead category quite nicely, we don't need Starfox to jump on the bandwagon. Unless Nintendo thinks up some amazing new plot, I can't think of anything other than shooting asteroids and flying through weird gold rings.

And I thought I was the only one who noticed that Fox's eyes changed colour! :D I like 'em either way, blue or green, which I find surprising because I'm an obsessive fangirl about details like that.

A friend of mine found a cheat code that translates all of SFA's subtitles to Dinosaur. Even the English ones. Pointless, eh?

Acording to a Daisy-obsessed friend of mine, Peach and Daisy have no official canon connection. Not even friends or anything. Methinks we should pester Nintendo?

I like Tag Team Trouble, for when Mario falls into Koopa's lap and he roars, "Outta my lap, plumber! Or I'll charge ya rent!" Eeheehee, I never get tired of that....:D

Yeah, I find the SNES Starfox really hard too. I only tried it recently as a ROM, but it's pretty impressive for its system.

I must say I'm a little confused as to Nintendo's use of Falco. They make him popular (ie. Super Smash Brothers Melee), and then turn around and have him wander off to do his own stuff? I wouldn't be surprised if he came back to the team in a future game.

And I agree, an all-flying game sounds like a step back compared to SFA. It may reek of Legend Of Zelda, but it still rocks.

Video Game Chat / Re: Which of these Nintendo films would you...

Well, they'd need to edit SFA a little to make it suitable for use as a movie. For instance, if it were a movie of me playing SFA, 3/4 of the movie would be me hitting Tricky with the staff and laughing hysterically. Most people would get tired of watching Tricky get clobbered after, oh, say, 20 minutes. And lots of the puzzles and stuff would have to be taken out for the sake of time constraints.

Although Krystal is pretty kewl...I haven't played much of the game, can she do anything other than throw barrels?
