Mario Chat / Re: Fans want Mario RPG for GBA
« on: July 29, 2002, 05:45:42 AM »
Actraiser is that game where you play a godly figure saving your people from monsters with the help of your little cupid dude, right? I think I've played that, it rocks. ^_^ And I agree, Mario RPG is a fantastic game that should get ported. It may be sort of easy once you've played it a few times, but what game isn't? It's got a lot of replay value and hidden secrets, not to mention some great characters who should get another game appearance.

My game of life would probably be RPG, something like Harvest Moon, but with modern-day stuff instead of all the stupid farming.

And why blow up penguins when you can repeatedly throw them off cliffs? Hehehe, good old SM64...

Hmm, Nintendo must be cracking down, a ROM site I used to visit (pe2000.net) had a disclaimer citing some laws that must have allowed them to distribute ROMs, and they've been shut down...It's a shame, ROMs are the only way to play a lot of old games, especially unpopular and sucky ones like MIM.

I doubt the tip guy was meant to be any big help...Not only is he hard to find, but he's only got a handful of rather useless tips. Anytime after Marrymore, all he says is to "avoid the pointy monsters on Star Hill".

The tip person is beside that house to the left of the castle, just out of sight. You know where Toadstool lands when she jumps out her window with her parasol? She's standing right beside this mystery person.

And I've got a nerdish bar joke! A neutron walks into a bar and orders a beer. He asks how much it costs and the bartender says, "For you? No charge."

*wanders in, sipping a Coca Cola* I heard that you get the Star Egg after winning Look The Other Way 100 times, but I'd never heard of anything else. And I heard that Luigi is the mysterious person in the Mushroom Kingdom who gives hints, but I don't buy that.

*turns to Stan Rose* So, what's your sign? :p

Mario Chat / Re: What's your opinion?

I think it's good that they're re-releasing old games. I miss the great old games I played on the SNES, I play them on ROMs now but it's just not the same (not to mention illegal :p). Re-releasing the games lets you play your old favourites, even when their original system is hopelessly outdated. Not only that, but the GBA is portable, and the SNES kind of isn't. It's like that old Sega commercial where a kid id trying to play video games on an airplane, but his extension cord isn't long enough to reach his house. ^_^ I mean, I don't think I'll be buying any of the Mario Advance games unless I win the lottery, but I think it's a good idea.

Mario Chat / Re: Why did Peaches voice change?
« on: July 24, 2002, 08:50:39 PM »
Yeah, Luigi's voice seems to be getting squeakier. Remember the SMB cartoons, where he had this funky deep voice? And now he's even squeakier than Mario. I think it's some kind of freaky reverse puberty, personally. I dunno, I kind of prefer Peachie's voice high-pitched. The lower version in M64 sounded too....calm...almost eerily so.

Mario Chat / Re: Who Has More Power?

Good point PM, and I think Peach has always had healing powers to some degree. In the original SMB, she was the only one who could change TMK's citizens from their brick and mushroom forms. But Peach's magic attacks in SMRPG aren't very well suited to...well...attacking. Psych Bomb isn't that great compared to some of the stuff Mallow and Geno dish out. When debating the merit of magic, I guess it boils down to healing vs. offensive.

No, it's actually pretty kewl, it's not done yet. This Mercury chickie teams up with Bowser, but she's far more twisted than him, PURE evil, she creeps him out. It's called Serpents In The Wind, I think.

Hey, Jigglypuff isn't useless at all, Rest is practically insta-death if you can pull it off! And I think Pichu is there to even up the odds if two players have different skill levels. I'd like to see more Kirby characters, maybe King Dedede or Meta Knight. Ridley from the Metroid series would be kewl, too. Wario and Waluigi would more than likely be Mario clones, don't we have enough of those already?

Mario Chat / Re: Is Bowser really EVIL?
« on: July 22, 2002, 08:53:46 PM »
Well, if you factor in Mario RPG, then Bowser isn't anywhere near as evil as Ganon/dorf. In SMRPG, when Bowser met up with some of his former minions who had abandoned him, he wished them luck in their new lives and didn't even expect them to serve him again. Can you imagine Ganon/dorf doing that? Of course not.

I don't think Peach and Toad are active heros often enough to get their own rivals. And yeah, there's kind of enough villains already. Although an evil version of Peach would be really cool, hey WanWan, did you read that fic at ff.net too? The one with Peachie's evil cousin, Mercury? Wooo, fine fiction indeed.

This site not only has lots of Mario cartoons, but a few of the old Captain N and Legend of Zelda cartoons as well. Know what I like most about the Mario cartoons? King Koopa's voice. Most of the other characters had bad or average voices, but I think ol' Bowser had a voice that really suited him.

Bowser's my favourite baddie, but as far as regular baddies are concerned, I like Shyguys and Paratroopas.
