NOTES FOR THE CURIOUS: (1)I had to take an unexpected trip to Washington, which was hot and nasty anyway. The cabin I stayed in had no Wi-Fi, and I was up all night, sweating. Joy. (2) There will always be up to 4 nominations shown for now on. And I'll be going in the order I've been sent. If anyone has problems with this, we can discuss.

Best: I'd say Super Mario World, I liked how puzzling they were. No other ghost level had that.

Worst: Super Mario 64, I never liked that place, probably from being scared of the place as a little kid.

I vote for best first level

Best: I think I'll go with SMW as well.

Worst: Super Mario 64. The enemies could've varied more and the outside of the mansion is fairly boring.
Sunshine. Boos on booze.

Best: Does Luigi's Mansion count?  The entire game involved ghosts.

Best: I hate to do this, but I have two nominations: SMW and SML2. SMW was the original as far as Ghost Levels go. They were puzzling, creepy, but still somehow fun. SML2 may be weird for a nominee, but it was more or less the same as SMW, as far as the puzzling feature went. Both games had great level designs, which were (and still are) lots of fun to play through.

Worst: Mario Sunshine. I just turned this ghost into a block when I sprayed him. Now I can reach the next floor and- what?! Too low?! Mario 64 was a bit boring, but at least Mario Galaxy was a step back in the right direction.. the levels are nearly as much fun to play through as they were in SMW.

I nominate best first level.

BEST: Super Mario 64 probably. There was only... what, one "ghost" level? Yeah, but it had flying books, a freaky merry-go-round, and a man-eating piano.
WORST: Super Mario Sunshine. Never quite understood the crackhead Boos and the Hotel design was as frustrating as heck.

I'm gonna go against the status quo and say Super Mario Galaxy's ghost levels. I really think they took all that was great in the SMW ghost levels and twisted it around, making it even better. Sure, they weren't as puzzling, but they had all the spooky charm that they needed. Plus, the Boo suit was really cool, and I hope that we see it again someday. :)
What is a mystery? Just go inside my head, and you'll find out.

Best: Luigi's Mansion. I considered voting for the Chai levels in SML, since the jumping guys are based on Chinese zombie vampires, but I loved LM too much to split my vote.

Worst: Sunshine. It just doesn't feel like a Mario ghost level at all. And it's not a refreshing change of pace, either.

Best: Luigi's Mansion. I don't feel like there is any other logical choice.

Worst: Super Mario Galaxy. What was up with the floating mutton?

Best: SMW.  Nothing beats the perpetual maze-houses of SMW.

Worst: SMG.  There just wasn't enough there to make it as good as the others I've seen.

Best: Sunshine. I thought the haunted hotel was a very interestin new take on the classic Mario ghost level.

Worst: Galaxy, for obvious reasons.

Best: Super Mario World. Ghost houses are classic.
Worst: Super Mario 64. Overall I liked the level, but probably my least favorite ghost level I've played.

Also I vote best 2D game.
