The music score. The only thing in the game that actually surpassed expectations.

I don't have the GameCube yet, but I'm nearly gonna have it! And, hum...the action mode?

NOTE: The following message contains some wording that can and possibly will enhance your will to bash the author with a spiked club to death.  Read at your own discretion.
---------------------------------------------
I don't have a GameCube or SSBM.  I've played SSBM once for like two minutes in a Best Buy, and I can't say too much about it from there.  Yes, I'm still a true Mario fan, but for some reason parents are dominant.  Darn.

According to the screenshots and to the music from SSBM (many of which is on my website), I say that it is the best game ever.  It's 12/10.
NOTE: Most of you readers are probably going like, "GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!" and fingering your sword-hilts.  The point is below.

What I especially like?  Music.

Dude, you must have a complex AND be clinically insane. Anyway, SSBM has the best renders of the characters to date, awesome music, control and effects. And that's just while you're playing. The trophies are awesome.

Apart from Mario and Luigi's models. They went a little too far on the detail on them and as a result they just look like emotionless drones (their eyes in particular are wrong). And Luigi's face is completely wrong (compare it to the Luigi's Mansion model - see what I mean?).

Not my opinion - this is after actually comparing the SSBM models with their actual designs.

No, it's just your opinion. It certainly isn't mine, after comparing the models to the designs. I mean sure, Luigi has a bit more of a chin than he's supposed to, but then, he's looked differently over the years. Just like his voice is higher sometimes and lower others. But regardless, Mario's model is dead-on.

Peach's model was very good, yes. Luigi's model is probably the worst of the lot in terms of accuracy. I've inspected the Mario model in an attempt to put my finger on precisely what was missing. From what I can tell, the bottom half of his head is the wrong shape and his pupils are too big. I know they're only small defects, but it's been annoying me ever since I saw that model. Also, the DK model is slightly wrong - but that's only to be expected (only Rare seem to be able to make an accurate one*). All the others (I think) are fine.

*And shut up about Donkey Kong Racing.

Eh, there have also been many complaints among Yoshi fans about the SSBM rendition of Yoshi.  I, personally, don't mind, but the accuracy of the SSBM models is really just a matter of opinion...

Exactly. Personally, I think they're near perfection. I used to think Mario's hat was pulled down too far over his eyes... but now I don't think so, now that I own the game.
Luigi looks like his SSBM rendition in the art for MK64, MK:SC, Mario Party series...
And as for Yoshi, there's absolutely nothing wrong with him. The only question is, which Yoshi is he? The original one (the first one Mario rescued from an egg in Yoshi's Island 2) or another one? I suppose the first one from SMW, the one in SM64, and SSBM is the same... Boy, that took too long.
And also, even though Jigglypuff (what kinda name...?) is annoyingly stupid and a ripoff of Kirby, it did help me beat Event Match 51. I'm not sure I could have beaten it if not for the stupid Pokemon.

Yeah, I like the Yoshi. I was never over-keen on him being apparently made out of circles in Yoshi's Story and Mario Kart 64.

Heheh. But how come all the green Yoshis know him personally? Maybe it is the same one... I always thought he got re-trapped in an egg when he fell off... or maybe he has a lot of extra lives... :-P

You're never "over-keen" on anything. You use that term an awful lot.

One of my favourite parts of SSBM is how great Bowser looks. Previous games tended to make him all fat and stupid-looking, but in SSBM he's a fearsome muscular beast. I mean, I was so amazed when I first played the game that I spent about an hour in Training, just making Bowser jump around and crouch and roar cuz he's so cool-looking. No, I'm not a Bowser fan, why do you ask? :D But SSBM pays an impressive amount of attention to detail, the textures alone are great. And the music, gotta love the music. And Jigglypuff is NOT a Kirby ripoff...! Just because they're both fluffy and pink and inflatable doesn't mean anything.

Bowser's cool.
Ok, that was my opinion of Jigglypuff. They sure seem similar. I have a natural aversion to Pokemon.
Oh, speakin' of Kirby, is his name Kirby because he sucks stuff up like a vacuum?

I was going to make a hilarious response with the "over-keen" term in it - but as I can't think of one, you'll have to make do with me just saying "Whoops - Didn't notice that".

Well, he IS Mario's cousin. What if Mario's aunt on his father's side got married and had Stanley? He wouldn't be Stanley Mario then. He could be Stanley Mario. They don't say HOW Stanley is Mario's cousin, though.
