Okay, I know I made a thread about this long ago (more like almost 4 years ago) but I for one will actually miss this thing.
What's Battle of the Video Game Heroes (Or BOTVGH, as it's formally known) you're asking me?
A very obscure fanfic series done in the style of a TV series that was known from the late 90's to very early 21st century. It used to have its own domain name after leaving GEOCites (Which is dead now. RIP) but that name was snatched by one of those typesquatters. An archive of that site exists http://web.archive.org/web/20010723060745/http://www.botvgh.com/ there. Why would I miss something like this? It was nostalgic if you used the internet in the "Old Age," (around 1997 to 2,000) was a fan of Nintendo, and had lots of free time on your hands. It was somewhat ahead of its time by parodying (I HOPE) the old "Mary Sue" trend by having the characters hate the authors and having an omnipotent author who was super strong, master of gold, destroyer of evil, and etc. All characters were OOC, the plots could get creative, and the whole thing was SO nostalgic (like said) if you used the internet from around '97-'02.
Why can't this be resurrected? Why will no one buy the domain back and restore the site? Maybe post adaptions of it on YouTube and Newgrounds, etc. Why must this stay in relative obscurity? Why can't the chatrooms and all of the old features be brought back?
...Why?
Anyway, here's the new version of the site: http://www.smbhq.com/users/botvgh/.
And sorry if this topic makes me look stupid.
Kick! Punch! It's all in the mind!
