Ah, it's actually video game CHARACTER design.  That's a bit different.
I'm glad to see Symphoy of the Night and Dynamite Headdy mentioned.
And that thing about how Rare should never be able to design its own characters is so true!

I don't care what they say.  Plok was a fun game.  The character design was generic and bland, but the game was fun.  And Plok had the original ability to launch his limbs at enemies, a trait later to appear in the slightly more successful Rayman franchise.

I'm surprised that the article didn't mention any characters from Nintendo's Punch Out series.  King Hippo?  That was a messed-up character.  But the game was still insanely fun...
