It's gotta be a either the NES or the SNES. I loved it's Square games because they were still good and had ORIGANAL characters (The FF7 and FF8's cast are way too much alike), Chrono Trigger, SUper Mario Kart, great graphics, and best of all, fun! The NES sticks in my head because back then in the good ol days, graphics didn't matter and you didn't poo-poo a game right away because it looks dumb (coughcoughpapermariostorycough) and it had great games that I still play today....
And the N64 had Star Fox. Go for the hatches on the underside.

I was pretty young, and after hours of playing Mario/Duckhunt at the babysitter's, my parents hunted me down a NES for christmas and I got Mario/Duckhunt...

Does anybody remeber the "reject" mascots? Like Bubsy (I liked his first two games), Aereo the Acrobat, Zool, The big purple head guy, Captain N, and that one guy whose game was never played?
Actually, they don't really add up to Mario...And the TV stations in my area won't play Sonic Underground.

Yes! It's true, near the begining of Paper Mario, you end up fighting the Goomba king. He's got a funky mustache and red and white pants (Take that Chuck Quizmo!). Now, he never goes out and says it, but this humble Goomba King is Doomba! Well, maybe not, but that was the first thought that went through my head...I wanted to say that Chocobo isn't dead...And that Doomba had a cameo in a game.

Once when I was fightining Culex in Mario RPG, Mario and Geno kept dying so I finally stopped reviving them and decided to fight him with just Peach in a lazy shell. It took a while,but I sure did beat em. A non Mario one (I just have to share this) is in FF7 when I used Cait Seith's Limit break (Slots) and I killed the Emerald Weapon.

Yeah, like in Super Mario World when you beat the game as Luigi, and the Peach says," Oh thank you Mario."
Anyways, Yoshi, Wario, Luigi(Crappy one), and Toad have all starred intheir own games.

Atari is dead. Do you hear of Atari anymore? Sure, some. But not much. According to what I've read, the last year or two of it, the market was flooded with medicore "me too!" games, and then it just sort of fizzled out. Could this be repeating..? Look at all the Game Boy games. They're so sidescrollers coming out, it's almost scary (not to mention only a few are magical). Is this the end? The amoutn of video games being purchased in Japan is dwindling...Is it time to hit the alarm button? Is it nearly the day where Kid Icarus comes down out of the sky and says, "Alas, Nintendo..." And rabid undead Pokemon fans roam teh streets...?

Yes, The 3D games were great at first, but now they're all so much the same that I puke when a new one that obiously has no thought and is just being rushed comes out. I've only really played through three 3d games- Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, and Sonic Adventure (I'm a non biased gamer!) and still, I miss the golden days of 2d. I'm crossing my fingers that Miyamoto will have the sense to make one of those.
