Game Help / Re: HELP: SMB 3 - World 7
« on: September 05, 2001, 10:59:58 PM »
Make sure you're Super. Now find the two blue blocks in the brick room. Count from these blocks: 1, 2, 3, 4. Or just count to the left from the overhang: 1, 2. If you can't count, then congratulations! You've earned yourself a game of Yoshi's Safari! If you can count, then read on.

Bash the bricks at the spot where you finished counting and a secret switch will appear. Stomp it and collect all the coins for extra lives. Repeat until you have 99 lives. You may need to enter the castle more than once.

Now go back to the bricks and repeat, except instead of collecting the money jump to the left to the blue blocks and enter the secret door. Go down the first pipe for a Tanooki Suit. Go back up to the big room with Roto-Disc hubs and Stretch blocks. Run to the left. Now run to the right to get a running start, then fly straight above the hub inside the cross. You'll find a pipe that will teach you a secret code for finding Luigi in Super Mario 64.

Just Kidding!

Actually the pipe leads to the boss. Stomp him 100 times to clear the fortress.

Just Kidding!

Actually, you only need to stomp him three times. If this explanation is still inadequate, then I strongly suggest you go to the Nintendo Store and buy a back issue of SG1-NP13, the SMB3 strategy guide. Once you finally understand the method, then got to ebay and buy yourself a game of Yoshi's Safari. Enter Stage 2 and beat Ludwig there instead! :P

Game Help / Re: Super Mario 64

There are two penguins here: One close to start and one close to mama. The one close to mama is fake, so get the one close to the start. Here's the fastest solution. Do a Long Jump to get to the house and just when you reach it, press A to pull yourself up. Now use a double jump to get onto the chimney and then the ledge (you may need to use A to pull youself up). Get next to the penguin and press B to grab it. Now make a small jump to the slope and slide down until the fencing ends, then fall of the slide. You should find yourself in an area with a snowman's head on a hexagon. Make your way to the bridge, jumping a lot because the penguin retards your speed. On the bridge you should also jump a lot, but be careful not to fall off or hit a snowman. The best way to do this is to use the C buttons so that the bridge expands from the left edge of your screen to the right edge. Once past the bridge, jump down to the area with Mama, but before you hit the ground, press Z so you aren't stuck in snow. Pick up the baby and jump to mama. Scroll through her message, move to the shadow, jump, and tada! :)

Sound complicated? If it does, then keep in mind that it is a speed solution. BTW, if you want to get the fake penguin, grab on the nearby tree, do a handstand, face towards the builing, and jump. Now it's just a simple jump onto Fake Penguin's scaffold and an even simpler B button press.

Game Help / Fastest scores?
« on: September 22, 2002, 04:27:26 PM »
I have a GBA. Yay! :)

I have SMA! YAY! :):)

I have SMW:SMA2! YAY!!!! :):):)

I had them since June this year, actually. Boo! Late bloomer.

As of September 22, 2002, my score in SMA: 1,294,120 out of a possible 99,999,990. SMW score is around 2,000,000 out of 9,999,990.

Here's my question: What's the quickest way to max out the scores? SNES SMW was easy: Forest Illusion 1, jump on Wigglers a lot on the logs. Does it still work on GBA? And as for SMA1. . . I see no way to get 99,999,990 quickly.

Forum Games / 5-piece sentences
« on: July 21, 2002, 06:24:57 PM »
For each puzzle below, use exactly 5 of the 9 pieces to make a Mario fact. Here's a sample.

IS A GAMECUBE
MELEE
SMASH
IS AN N64
SUPER
GAME
PUZZLE
MARIO
BROS.

The correct answer is "Super / Smash / Bros. / is an N64 / game". Notice that you can also form the statement "Super / Smash / Bros. / Melee / is a GameCube / game". This is also true, but it uses 6 pieces. This will not do! Can you find the answers to the following puzzles? Do you have more puzzles to add?

1. SMB3
WORLD 5
OF
WORLD 1
IGGY
WENDY
SMW
RULES
WORLD 2
--CashCrazed

2. BOWSER
PEACH
LUIGI
TIME LIMIT
YOSHI
VS MODE
MARIO
HAS THE SHORTEST
IN YOSHI'S COOKIE'S

3. CHERRY IN
A STARMAN
VEGETABLE IN
EVERY FIFTH
WILL GET YOU
A CLOCK
EVERY TENTH
LARGE
SMB2

Yoshi's Cookie Fans!

I was playing on my SNES, and I discovered that if you clear your entire playfield in VS mode, you get bonus points! Try it yourself. It's hard!

Game Help / I just made a new discovery!
« on: May 12, 2002, 01:45:56 PM »
I have never seen this on the internet before, so I decided to post it here. Someone else probably found it first, but as far as I know, it has never been published.

It's in the game Tetris Attack, SNES.

1. Pull out the game.

2. Stick it in you SNES.

3. Turn on the game.

4. At the main menu choose "HOW TO IMPROVE" and select any lesson.

5. While the computer is doing it, if you hold L or R you can control the cursor with the + Pad and switch blocks with A. (You can't use B since that will take you back a screen.) Let go of L or R to give the computer control back.

Cool huh? Try it out. It's a great way to practice.

Mario Chat / weird Yoshi's Cookie Box

I found it on eBay.

http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_76aa6636eb3984e7d068ff09d3/i-2.JPG

It says you can play as Peach, Yoshi, or Bowser, but I thought that was just SNES. I don't own the NES version, but I read an instruction manual on the web which mentioned nothing about the characters, so I assume they aren't in there. How do you think Nintendo could've made a fluke like that? The NES version came before the SNES version, right?

This will be like Mario Number Association. I'll start with 1, then 2, then 3, then so on. We must see how high we get. You can use operators like + - x / but try to use them as little as possible.

1= Number of people that can play SMB2 simultaneously.
2= Number of games listed as of 12/20/2001 in the GameCube section of TMK (did I mention that references to next-gen games are allowed?)
3= Number of Mario Party games released by Nintendo.
4= Number of ? Blocks before the first pipe in SMB1.
5= Least number of GameCube controllers that will require at least two GameCubes and two copies of SSBM so that everyone can play. (I'm very mathematical minded, as you can see.)

I did the first 5 numbers for you. Now try to come up with something good for 6.

Mario Chat / Errors in Mario Games
« on: December 18, 2001, 12:57:31 PM »
What are some amusing errors you know of? There are some in the Errata, here are some more.

Dr. Mario (NES)

Instructions on scoring: "Even if you clear more than six viruses, you only get points for clearing six." OK, it's not totally incorrect, but it could be misleading. Actually, you do get points, but the score for the viruses beyond number six is the same as that for number six. The SNES game manual for Tetris & Dr. Mario explains it better, and even gives a scoring example that makes clear another fact the NES manual doesn't: That the scores in the table are per virus. If you clear 3 viruses on MED, you don't get 800, but rather 200+400+800 points.

Mario's Picross

How to Play Screen: Mario says "If you make mistake, your remaining time will be reduced. But try not to panic!" SHouldn't it be "If you make A mistake. . ."?

Mario Party 3

Instructions: In the section on Bonus Stars, it says "Millennium Star: Awarded to the player who wins the most coins in Mini-Games." Isn't it the Mini-Game Star?

Well, that's all I can think of. If you know more, then post here!

P.S. I sent you the puzzle mode solutions that you wanted, Deezer. Please check your mail.
