well to tell u the truth if you beat the game you beat hero, dark, and last.  and if u beat the whole game you would have all 180 emblems and unlocked green hill zone.

Maria is eggman's cousin and she dies when the space colony ARK gets shut down.  I don't know if she's in the orginal sonic adventure cause i never played the orignal

shawdow dies when you beat the "last" side which you unlock after you beat both hero and dark

Yeah it's a great game but the ending sucked!
*Spoiler!!! Don't read if you don't want to know the ending!!!**

They killed the best character in the game!!  Shadow!  i can't believe he died. unless the green hill zone level has to do with something where he doesn't die.
