Video Game Chat / Blu-ray, HD-DVD: What do you think?
« on: December 19, 2005, 08:02:29 PM »
What do you guys think about this Blu-ray Vs. HD-DVD nonsense?

Is Sony being too optimistic about their Blu-ray format? Yes the PS3 ia using it, but what if the format fails? Many of you may be saying: "how could Blu-ray fail if PS3 uses it?" PS3 is using Blu-ray primarily for games. If the format fails to catch on outside of the gaming industry, then Sony is stuck with a useless product.

Blu-ray has many more supporters than HD-DVD, but that could all change once those companies realize how expensive the technology is. HD-DVD is cheaper to produce, since it uses similar manufactuing process as normal DVD. Blu-ray discs are thinner than DVD and HD-DVD, and require new production techniques.

Microsoft is supporting HD-DVD, and they are supposedly working on an HD-DVD Xbox 360. HP has recently announced their support for HD-DVD.

Should we worry about which format wins? Or should we just stick with standard DVD like Nintendo has done?

Video Game Chat / Nintendo DS games you'd like to see
« on: December 19, 2005, 07:21:19 PM »
I would love to see Super Smash Bros. on the DS. The online play would be amazing, and I'm curious as to how Nintendo would utilize the dual screens.

Metal Gear Solid would be great on the DS. You could use the touch screen to select different weapons, and the dual screens would make it much easier to view the radar while playing.

Video Game Chat / Xbox 360, what do you think?
« on: December 06, 2005, 07:56:29 PM »
Now that the Xbox 360 is here, glitches and all, what do you guys think of the console so far? Is Microsoft promising too much with their HD-era, "take-over-the-entertainment-center" approach, or do we just need to wait and see what types of games will be available.

I personally think that Microsoft has done an excellent job of hyping the 360. Gamers all over the world have lined up to buy the console, sometimes waiting in the cold for hours outside of stores. The games are good, not revolutionary. The graphics are great, but they will improve over time.

The real thing that sets the 360 apart from the competition (Sony) is online gaming. Xbox Live is the de-facto of online services. Microsoft has promised huge things with Xbox Live, and so far they have delivered. The online gaming is integrated so semelessly into the games, that sometimes you don't even realise you are playing online.

The only problem with Xbox 360 is this: Based on many reports on the Internet, it seems the Xbox 360 is a hungry machine. The console reportedly uses a ton of electricity, and the ugly power brick only adds to the problems. The tri-core processor and unique cooling system certainly use up a lot of energy, and that will be bad in the long run for people with limited financial budgets.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo Revolution
« on: November 16, 2005, 07:55:23 PM »
With all of the Xbox 360 news and hype going on right now, when do you think Nintendo will release more information on the Revolution?

I am so excited, Nintendo is planning something huge with the Revolution. I am anxious to see Nintendo's plans with making videogames more accessible to wider audiences. Videogames will finally be fun again!

By the way, what do you guys think about the Xbox 360? Do you think it will do as well as Microsoft is stating? I like the Xbox 360. It has the best online gaming service (until Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection comes out), and it doesn't focus too much on advanced technology like the PS3 does.

I think Microsoft and Nintendo are going to rule this generation!

Mario Chat / Re: GBA-SP
« on: January 08, 2003, 09:05:41 AM »
Go to Nintendo.com, they have better information on the new GBA-SP.

I can't believe that Nintendo has FINALLY made a Game Boy with a built-in light screen! Also, the system looks really cool with the flip-top screen... Very sweet!

One question, will the new Game Boy Advance-SP be able to do multiplayer-link games? The article said nothing about a multiplayer-link feature...

BandicootBuddy... If you like the PlayStation so much, why are you here at a Mario/Nintendo fan site?

If you are a true fan of Nintendo/Mario, then you should stop talking about the PlayStation! This is not a PlayStation site...it's a Mario fan site!

If you don't want to talk about Mario, then leave and go on some PlayStation message board!

It is I, King Bowser... ruler of all Koopas, big and small. I have come to take over the Mushroom Kingdom (no, not the place...I mean the WEB SITE!)! Deezer, you will surrender your troops to me, or else you will never see your precious Mario again! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Does this have to do with a Mario game?

Or are you thinking of real dinosaurs?
If so, there are two breeds of dinosaurs with giant bodies and tiny heads:

Brachiosaurus
Diplodicus (also called Brontosaurus)

There are many other breeds of these dinosaurs, but the two I mentioned are the most common.

MARIO RULES! NINTENDO IS THE BEST!

What do you think of Ken Kutaragi's comments about the PS3 having a high price tag (over $400)? Is he telling the truth, or is he just creating mindless hype so Sony's competitors can worry?

Video Game Chat / The Revolution... Nintendo's last chance?
« on: October 27, 2005, 06:21:21 PM »
It has been said many times that the Revolution may be Nintendo's last attempt at holding their ground in the console market. Satoru Iwata is even a bit nervous about system's success, stating that the Revolution would be a "complete failure" if it did not outsell the GameCube.

Nintendo is taking a big risk in developing their unique controller. They are trying a concept that no one has ever seen before in gaming, much like the DS's touch-screen feature, and are putting all their resources into making it a successful product.

Many of you may think of the Revolution as a rebirth of the NES era, where innovation and gameplay will once again reign supreme. This may actually work, if Nintendo manages to utilize the controller effectively. Many third-party developers have expressed interest in making games using the controller, but with a lack of actual game demos, nor an official list of developer support, it is best to take these comments with a grain of salt.

Remember when many developers wanted to support the GameCube, then they quickly backed out once they realized the system wasn't selling to anyone's expectations?
The same thing could happen with the Revolution. It could be the next flop like the Virtual Boy, or it could be a resounding success like the NES.

The only thing Nintendo has to do is gain enough thrid-party support and develop games that actually utilize the features of the Revolution's controller.
