I think Lola Prue would make a great diplomat.

Hmm... Could you guys could expound a little bit on why you favor one candidate?  I don't really agree with any one candidate, but I do swing toward the Socialist party. j/k

Honestly, I'm not trying to stir up debate or argue with anyone.  But, (and this is mainly for Lola) you lose some of your credibility by saying "duh... vote fer Gore or I'll kick yer butt" or "Even if you have a reasonable argument, I refuse to listen to you because we disagree".

Ohh... I love a good discussion...

On a side note, I was a staunch supporter of Alan Keyes.  Remember him?  Unforutately, he never had a chance at the party nomination.  He knew what his opinion was on every issue, and he wasn't afraid to stand up for that.  That's kind of an oxymoron, an honest politician.  What a novel idea...

Oh yeah, about the Mature Mario thing...

We have to remember a few things about what Miyamoto could mean by 'mature'-

1) 'Mature' could have a different meaning in the Japanese culture.  For instance, rather than violent-mature, maybe more intellect-mature.  The danger is to assume that Nintendo will jump onto the M-rated bandwagon, which isn't necessarily true.

2) Japanese and English are two vastly different languages, meaning that it is incredibly difficult to effectively translate between the two and retain the original meaning. What trickled down to us as 'mature' could have had an entirely different meaning before passing through the translation digestive system.  (This could also explain those goofy Japanese game titles...)

In other words, I'm just as confused as you are.  I guess we'll find out about this mature thing when SM decides to make a new game...

Okay, now you're getting into that multiple main character garbage that has so many Zelda fans confused.  (Some sources estimate that there are actually 3 different pairs of Links and Zeldas)  I think it would help out a whole lot if we all just admit that the game designers periodically assume creative license when it comes to the 'canon' Mario plot.

I personally see nothing wrong with creative license, as long as they don't pull crap like that too often... ; )

Wow, I'm kind of surprised that this thread is still alive.  I remember back at about 102/103 posts, someone announced that it was dead.

I have always been a fan of Sega.  I still love my Genesis/Sega CD/32X, and Sega has always ranked among the top 5 in my mind as far as game developers go.  I do hate to see them struggling now, but I wouldn't say that Sega is dead or dying.  Remember that they have always had a much larger fan base in Japan (proportionally) than in the US.

Yeah, there was a topic about the SMW arcade game awhile back.  In my own quest for information about this (rare) game, all I found was a few pictures of hardware and one or two bids on eBay for assorted parts.  Sadly, no screenshots or other game info.

I'm not sure which one I plan to buy.  I have a personal bias against Sony; I love Sega's stuff, but I am a big fan of Nintendo.  However, I really felt the serious lack of turn-based RPG's on the 64 (there was 1, and it sucked).

In other words, I am extremely confused.  My old NES is looking pretty good right now...

Don't get me wrong, I pesonally don't support the PS or the PS2 at all, for several reasons.  But you have to give Sony credit for the impact that the PS2 is having on society in general.  It's the propagandist's dream.

I watched a few retail stores in my area before, on , and after launch day, and I must say it was simply astounding.  Never before have I seen people standing in line in American stores to get the next big piece of hardware, and I have never seen people turned down because there weren't enough.

Those have always been rumors from across the Pacific; of lines that form the day before, of supply shortages...

I haven't bought a PS2, and I don't know if I will.  However, the only word I can think of to describe launch day, at least in my corner of the globe, is WOW.

Argh!  Why can't I just take a few days off from real life to play Majora's Mask?  I have only put in about three hours so far.

I'm jealous.

I was excited about the return to the original overworld theme, too.  Ocarina of Time sounded naked without it :(
