Yeah, I believe BP is right about them thinking they perfected the formula in TTYD (I think so too), but I think I'm going to enjoy this game regardless. If they really did get rid of partners, I'd be sad because they clearly had some earlier on in development. I guess we'll just have to find out!

Check it out! Some of the backgrounds remind me of Yoshi's Island, and the style looks a little different than the other NSMB games!

Angry Birds is nothing like Super Mario Galaxy.

You can do anything that doesn't need admin, but only one admin action.

Now that I think of it, this part doesn't make much sense to me. What exactly do you mean by this?

Nice! Sadly I'm not familiar with Key to the Kingdom, but this looks professional and fun!

Mods can't do a whole lot here, but unbanning steven9wii sounds like the best idea ever, so I'll go with that!

That's true, but I want originality like that to be more frequent. Before 2006 or so, mostly every single Mario adventure, excluding remakes, was original and didn't focus solely on bringing back the past. That last statement I just made is what I believe New Super Mario Bros. 2 is doing.

EDIT: Note that Galaxy 1 & 2 are 3D mario games. I forgot to state this previously but I'm referring to the 2D games. I still think they're putting out new Mario games too quickly.

The game looks good as usual, but I feel that Nintendo has pumping out Mario games too quickly and not giving us enough real new content recently. While it's true that, for 95% of Mario games, each one is vastly different from the previous, I still think we need something completely original right now. Recently, Nintendo has just been bringing back old stuff and putting it in Mario games, most likely for the nostalgic factor that faded away ever since the original New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. Why not introduce a new world, similar to Dinosaur Land in Super Mario World? This would allow an even greater window of opportunity, since they don't have to worry about making everything too familiar.

New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii were great, but this is pushing the "New" name a whole lot.

Here's a nice map:

Awesome picture!

Toad, you make a pretty good point there, but weren't there other red, yellow, and green Toads at the start of Super Mario Galaxy?

Yeah, I played that earlier this year and it really helped me get into Nonogram puzzles.

I can see where CrossEyed is coming from, but remember that the Warp Zone in SMB isn't all that secret, even if you played the game for the first time. I don't remember when I first played it, but I do remember not having a hard time finding it in one of my earlier playthroughs. However, I agree with the idea that it feels like you're breaking the game but you then realize the developers intended this.

One thing I enjoyed most in a Mario game was finding all the Star Coins in NSMBW. Some were hidden in the most obscure places, and if you didn't use the little hint videos they had or a strategy guide then you'd have to really think about where the developers placed them. I was doing this with my brother too, so that only enhanced the experience.

I agree with BP about the warp thing: I don't even use them myself anymore because I want to see the whole game, and even if a part was too hard for me I'd keep trying until I beat it (Ex: US version of NES Ninja Gaiden III).

I'd love to see Pikmin 3 announced.

I agree with most, if not all, of CrossEyed's points. Unfortunately, I may be in an even worse shape than he is after graduating because I decided to go to an out-of-state school (which charges out-of-state students even more money to attend. Why they wouldn't want more students from other states coming to their school is a mystery to me) and do not have a job. My parents can't possibly pay for all of my education with their current income, so I was forced to take out a bunch of loans.

All of the above don't even account for my biggest problem. I'm majoring in game design and sadly my job options are limited in that field because it's still relatively new compared to almost any other field you can think of. I've applied for internships at various companies and even several on-campus jobs and the result was either no response or "we're sorry, but we decided not to choose you for this job." I'm especially annoyed at the job system: how can I prove how good I am to you in a resume? Game design and other related fields are extremely complex, and just listing my experience in making games (which is actually fairly impressive) and interests can't possibly show any employer my true talent of level/map design. Interviews don't cut it either because they usually ask the same boring, generic questions.

The system is obviously flawed, and with the tuition prices growing tremendously I don't see how anyone but the rich will be able to afford an education in the future without either going bankrupt or having a 50 year debt.

Can I bring my computer that has tons of games and music downloaded onto it already?
