Mario Chat / Re: Best Mario RPG
« on: September 15, 2008, 08:51:25 PM »
Yes, I have played Zelda II and most of the Castlevania games. The creators of the games probably didn't make the company website; however, I doubt that the creators of the site would just make up any genre; they would most likely ask a developer of the game what genre it is. The creators of the site are responsible for the accuracy of information on the video games, along with much more.

You're entitled to think what you want about the game, but I'm sticking to the creators, since they know how they wanted it to be made.

Be sure to tell that to Konami, so they know not to put those in future Castlevania games. And better let Falcom know, so they don't make any more games like Ys III or Popful Mail. And, uh, Nintendo, for making Zelda II.

Zelda II is considered an Action, Adventure game, according to Nintendo. As for the Castlevania games, they are classified as Action/Action-Adventure games by Konami. Popful Mail is classified as an RPG, and Ys III is also described as an RPG.

I have yet to see it say something like, "Platformer/RPG" or "Platforming RPG" as a genre for any game on any videogame company's website. If you find something like that, please tell me.

I'm not the argumental type; I'm just telling you what genres the creators of these games intended to make them.

You guys aren't getting it. Super Paper Mario is an RPG with platforming elements. I don't think a platformer with RPG elements would go so far as to have level ups, stats, side-quests, experience points, etc.

Taken directly from the nintendo.com site:

System: Wii
No. of players: 1 player
Release Date: Apr 9, 2007
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Intelligent Systems
Genre: RPG
ESRB Rating: E

Here's the exact link for those of you who might want it: http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/_bua93nkRXBBWiJ8ulRPXASuK0xbcL8l

As you can see, it's an RPG. You may not have the same viewpoint, but the creators made the game to be an RPG with platforming elements. It just simply has more platforming elements than the other Mario RPGs. You may not have to agree with Nintendo, but it's an RPG regardless.

You excluded Super Paper Mario as a choice. Although it's a little strange, it's still considered an RPG.

Well, I'm just going to say that I found the SNES to be a very enjoyable system. I found a lot of games on it very amusing for long periods of time. Yes, some of the games were made by third-party developers. I own a lot of SNES games. I really don't know how I got them, but I played most of them, and they turned out to be great.

A clothes hanger, or coat hanger, is a device in the shape of:

-Human shoulders designed to facilitate the hanging of a coat, jacket, sweater, shirt, blouse or dress in a manner that prevents wrinkles, with a lower bar for the hanging of trousers or skirts.
-Clamp for the hanging of trousers, skirts, or kilts. Both types can be combined in a single hanger.

There are three basic types of clothes hangers. The first is the wire hanger, which has a simple loop of wire in a flattened triangle shape that continues into a hook at the top. The second is the wooden hanger, which consists of a flat piece of wood cut into a boomerang-like shape with the edges sanded down to prevent damage to the clothing, and a hook, usually of metal, protruding from the point. Some wooden hangers have a rounded bar from tip to tip, forming a flattened triangle. This bar is designed to hang the trousers belonging to the jacket. The third kind and most used in today's world are also plastic coat hangers, which mostly mimic the shape of either a wire or wooden hanger. Plastic coat hangers are also produced in smaller sizes to accommodate the shapes of children's clothes.

Some hangers have clips along the bottom for suspending skirts. Dedicated skirt and trousers hangers may not use the triangular shape at all, instead using just a rod with clips. Specialized pant hanger racks may accommodate many pairs of trousers. Foldable clothes hangers (http://www.dym.nl) that are designed to be inserted through the collar area for ease of use and the reduction of stretching are an old, yet potentially useful variation on traditional clothes hangers. They have been patented over 200 times in the U.S. alone, as in U.S. Patent 0586456, awarded in 1897 to George E. Rideout.

Some historians believe President Thomas Jefferson invented the wooden clothes hanger.

Did you know that Nintendo gave Mario a cap because they couldn't choose a hair style?

The worst videogame I ever played would probably have to be Ecco The Dolphin for Sega Genesis. Good thing I tried it out on the Xbox Live Arcade first.

It's such a bad game, in my opinion. You start out the game with no background or anything, and I couldn't get past the first screen. The other dolphins that you talk to don't help you at all. If you talk to one of them, the dolphin says something like, "Your eyes are like stars in the sky." That's so pointless!

Another dolphin tells you how to dash. Okay, that might be helpful, but dashing is pointless, since if you try it out on a rock blocking your path, it doesn't do anything! I doubt the demo version would give you such a small amount of space to enjoy the game. Plus, you're not usually blocked from anything in a demo version on the Xbox Live Arcade; it just usually stops you at a certain point and offers the full game.

All there is to do in the game is move around through swimming and dashing. Talking to other dolphins doesn't help, and when you talk to them, it has to make a whole new screen with their pointless text.

Game Help / Re: My video won't appear on Youtube...?

If it still didn't appear, I suggest converting the video to another type of video file, such as .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, or .MPG. Then try uploading the video.

A chair is a kind of furniture for sitting, consisting of a back, and sometimes arm rests, commonly for use by one person. Chairs also often have four legs to support the seat raised above the floor. Without back and arm rests it is called a stool. A chair for more than one person is a couch, sofa, settee, loveseat, recliner or bench. A separate footrest for a chair is known as an ottoman, hassock or pouffe. A chair mounted in a vehicle or in a theater is simply called a seat. Chairs as furniture typically can be moved.

The back often does not extend all the way to the seat to allow for ventilation. Likewise, the back and sometimes the seat are made of porous materials or have holes drilled in them for decoration and ventilation.

The back may extend above the height of the head. There may be separate headrests. Headrests for seats in vehicles are important for preventing whiplash injuries to the neck when the vehicle is involved in a rear-end collision.

Mario Chat / Re: Why is wall jumping/kicking so satisfying?
« on: July 28, 2008, 09:11:21 PM »
I find wall kicking satisfying because I know I'm safe after I do it, since I can usually land on another platform after I wall kick. Well, most of the time, at least.

I don't recommend any specific one. Also, you can buy a video-in cable for a camera and plug it into your Wii input. If you don't have a camera with video-in, I suggest looking one up and buying it.
