Game Help / Re: Unused NES Mario 3 ice level found in SMAS!
« on: February 04, 2009, 05:24:07 PM »
You know this is an old discovery right?

Game Genie code oddities refers to it as Super Mario Bros. 3: the lost level.

    We're talking...    maybe pre-2001.

Eh. Sounds great, but I can't see myself getting into it. I try to avoid that sort of stuff, if someone can get into it and mess things up.

 - The Final Battle in Super Metroid. They really found a way to convey a lot of rage and raw emotion when you get to wail on Mother Brain.

Coincidentally, the SNES game was my first introduction to the Metroid series. I picked up the original for NES around the time Super Smash Bros. came out for N64. "Ooooh so this is what Mother Brain is from..."

 - First time I saw Giga Bowser in Melee. The game had been out for a good long time, and I thought I saw everything it had to offer. Then this freak shows up.

 - The cellular walls and growing tissue in stage 1 of Life Force (NES). On many occasions I got trapped behind that tissue and crashed. The cell wall at the end of the stage had to be fired through, but it would regrow after a few seconds, which gets kinda scary when you're digging through it for the first time on the way to the boss.

 - Stage 3's eruptions, same game. Stage 3 was fire-themed, and seemed to take place on a star, but in true Gradius fashion, the surface is both above and below you. Okay, upside down fire, not weird at a- HOLY SHIG!!!  This is the point when enormous Prominence emerges from below and almost crushes you in a firey blast. Or maybe it does crush you. Either way, wow.

 - Chrono Trigger DS, seeing the new postfinal boss. Since it just came out, I can't really describe this one, but fans of the game (who have been fans for a good portion of the last 13 years) will crap their pants.

What's the password to Nintendo's website? I want to make games come out sooner.

I kinda still am, but for the reasons listed I don't pop in much. It's mostly "Link is my hubby" or "this game is better it has pretty graphics" or "Is there a fourth triforce?" You know, the really dumb stuff.

General Chat / Re: Wacko dreams
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:35:55 PM »
Well to make up for it, I (sorta) had a Zelda dream.

Now, over the course of last spring, I joined the local renaissance faire (That has a lot less to do with this being a Zelda dream than you'd think.) In my dream, a girl I know from the scottish guild had a movie she wanted to show us (movie as in VHS tape, not DVD). We were  outside, and somehow had a TV out there too. And we were all standing around outside in the woods in the middle of the day watching it.

girl: "This is a scary movie!!"

(puts it in and hits play)

Now, first I don't see anything, but I hear this kind of low humming buzz, like some sort of death ray. Then I start hearing the boomerang sound from the original Legend of Zelda... several of them, actually. Then, I see the image: Remember Link from the old 80's cartoon? (please don't confuse it with CD-i, it was slightly better) Well, a LIVE-ACTION version of him was running around a modern suburb in blind terror as some invisible mob was throwing sword beams, boomerangs, and arrows at him (hence the sounds from before). The look on Link's face was "Oh crap!!" and he was clutching his hat to his head as he jumped fences, turned corners, tripped over trash cans, etc. It was kinda funny.

I really needed to find a Mario forum... so, here we go. Hopefully it won't be as nutty as... say, The Hylia. People don't exactly freak over the Mario franchise like they do Zelda, which is good.

I had a dream awhile back that someone was trying to unleash a horrible monster on the earth. It turned out, that monster was Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin, with a beer belly (?). And she wasn't interested at all in destroying anything.

I used to come into the chat on occasion, long ago. long, long ago. I don't think anyone would have remembered me though, especially since I went by a different name.

My username comes about because night stages are my favorite kinds of Mario stages. I guess this really started with how they looked in Super Mario All-Stars, but I generally have a lot of imagination either way: All-Stars or NES SMB. I mean put some streetlights out there, a few buildings, voila...
