Are you saying that Mario has a life in someplace other than in games? (not counting the movies or T.V. shows, they're just twisted.)

Actually the modern DK from DKC and on is DK Jr from the original ones according to the DK storyline.

I think it's simply that Mario is becoming stronger, in a world where almost everyone is your enemy you have to defensive.

Crikey.

I feel like a lot of the examples cited here are reading into Mario's actions too much, where he does something that's meant purely to be humorous. Like falling asleep during Luigi's stories? It's supposed to be funny.

Look past goofy situations and spin-offs to what Mario actually ends up doing: saving the day and helping people.
